Looking Small Group Tour Operator - Melbourne

We have a small group of 6 adults + 2 kids based in Melbourne. We are looking to make a trip to Phillip Island, Great ocean road, etc., during the holidays and next couple of months.

I'm looking for a small group tour operator who can take us on these trips. None of us know how to drive a car, so I'm looking for a tour operator.

It would be great if someone could suggest a good small group tour company in Melbourne.

  • Any language preferences?

    • English should be okay.

  • Have you done an internet search?

    • Yes. I did come across some. But I'm also looking for people's opinion/first hand experience here.

      • Ah, that's different.
The only one I've personally used is not operating now.

Maybe narrow it down and post up the ones you have found and ask for opinions of those providers. Can't expect someone to do all the legwork for you.

        • Ok. Thank you.

        • Not expecting others to do legwork. If someone had any experience recently they can share, otherwise ignore the post.

That aint going to be cheap…

Perhaps find another friend who can drive and get a mini van from budget or Avis otherwise it out turn in to a very expensive day out.

I haven't personally used any but remember seeing ads on sites like Groupon ( does it even exist any more?), Redballoon, etc. about day tour groups that you can join. Try some of these if they are still in business post-covid but the downside is that you would be limited to their schedule including dates, starting, finishing times and places visited.

Also have a look at Gumtree or FBM as I have seen small operators advertising on those platforms and you may be able to negotiate a better deal with these guys. However only go with someone with a group tour operator license ( or something similar) and proper insurance not just any bloke with a van wiling to take you there as such accidents are dime a dozen on tourist routes it seems.

      • Thank you. Will take a look in gumtree And fbm and also into the license/insurance stuff.

I booked these guys for my husband's birthday a few years ago:

They were fantastic! Bryce was really helpful, and such a nice guy, and made us feel like movie stars for the day. Not sure if they can accommodate more than 7 people, but it's worth contacting them.

    • Thank you for this. It looks really good. I’ll reach out to them.
