How Does MoneyBackCo/StartHere/Buckscoop Work?

Hey guys,

I'm new to cashbacks through these sites, and was wondering how does it exactly work?

Do you put in cc details and then when you buy something via those sites does a certain percentage get credited back onto your card?

Is it a hassle to get the cashback? or is it instant after purchase?

Is there fine print things when it comes to the percentages advertised? or what you see is what you get?

Which is better, moneybackco, starthere or buckscoop? or does it depend on what you're buying?

Thanks guys, Im hoping someone who has used these sites will be able to help me understand.

  • You just need to sign up for an account and click through their links. No need to give them your credit card details.

No hassles but for me it doesn't work all of the time. No idea why.

As for fine print, it will say exception or what the cashback applies to on the site.

Moneybackco and Starthere are the same thing. Starthere is the new name of moneybackco. I use both Buckscoop and Starthere. Just have to compare the % back and see which one is better per store.

Just sign up and take a browse of the sites

  • In a word - slowly.

I participated in the Dec round of Dell monitors and the time difference between me inputting my credit card detail and 3.1% being returned, was 101 days. Yes, I'd have thought two months was long. :-/

  • Yes, can attest to that. Very slow.

Buckscoop gives a good indication of how long you are going to wait.

3 month average to receive cashback.

  • Cheerz guys, joined them and ill try it when i next buy something.

I guess it's better late than never.

  • I still don't get how it works. How does StartHere know you have made a purchase if the transaction is not processed through them?

    • +1

You need to click through their links, store/merchant knows you clicked through starthere. That is reported back to starthere. Starthere basically gets the full commission from them and then splits whatever portion with you.

      • Thanks neil

      • This made me think though.
Does OzBargain receive the same commissions when linking through to participating sites as well?

        • See Affiliate Links.

The short answer is no. We want members to be able to maximise their purchases which is why we recommend going through a cashback site like Starthere or Buckscoop. You can't double dip on commissions, so either Buckscoop, Starthere, OzBargain or whoever can get the commission.

Now, those who are guests or non-logged in users to OzBargain, where there is possible affiliation will be brought via an affiliate link.
