What are your thoughts on this Dell XPS 17 9710 for $4k? 32gb, 1tb, i7-11800H, uhd touch display and RTX 3060.

  i love my Dell XPS 15. i got the 15 inch because it is more convenient to carry around.

    XPS15 is the best laptop I've ever had. I wish that was an option at my current employer.

      what laptop is your employer getting you? what happened to your XPS 15?

        Changed companies, now on Macbook Pro, which isn't a bad machine and can do everything work requires. But if I want to play games - have to reboot into Bootcamp. XPS15 had a kick-ass graphic card and being Windows the game options were much more broad. Tried to buy that machine out when I was leaving, but the employer wanted to keep it so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

          @andrek: Nice.. i got XPS15 too because I really didn't fancy having to use Bootcamp. I also really like the XPS design.

  The power and screen size are both handy as in a photographer and appreciate the responsiveness. I'm mainly not sure how the price compares to this product (9710) at other times?

  One thing is that is I probably prefer a lesser gpu as it's not for gaming.

  I'm more of a PC guy, but if I was spending that much on a laptop I'd be seriously looking at the macbook pro 16…

    True and an M1 Pro 16inch 1tb is the same price!

    Pros: not having a Mac on a photo shoot freaks out people on a shoot 😆, The M1 Pro CPU is fast and energy efficient. Mac OS

    Cons: not upgradable, no touch screen (a feature that works really well on my xps 15 for zooming in on shots), not as good for gaming (not that that matters), Mac OS (also a con 😆)

  I own 3 Dell XPS's and currently using the latest XPS15 (work machine). Unfortunately they're plagued by bad design, bugs and flaws, apart from the brilliant 4k screen, I can't recommend the XPS. You'll get much better & [stable!] bang for buck with Metabox or Gigabyte in my opinion at that price point!
