800W????? This technology must be the answer to all environmental problems, surely (Shirly) they mean 80 watts

    • Imagine being killed by an 8W chainsaw!!

  • I bought this, used generic makita batteries, absolutely useless. Apparently it’s ok with original makita batteries…

    • +2

I got one. was useless too … then realised I had the chain on backwards! hahaha. then I almost cut my thumb off with it.

Reminds me of a movie I once saw, think it’s called safety not guaranteed.

Got it last deal, don't waste your money, what it can cut could easier be snapped by hand

At least they are truthful with their description:
      - Rechargeable electric chain saw, light and portable, long battery life, no damage to the bark.

I can't get it to not add a shipping charge of $10 or thereabouts anyway.

      4 inches is not enough

According to a 2015 scientific review, the average length is 5.16 inches.

Different experience here, used mine to chop up some branches way too thick to snap by hand and it worked a treat

  • +2

Needs to be a tad longer for zombie attack. You'd need about 6-7" to take the head off in one motion. With only 4" that zed is still very dangerous.
    Hard pass.

  • +3

I bought this and I love it, dunno if people have unrealistic expectations for it or what but it makes pruning a breeze. Keep a can of inox handy and spray the bar every so often while using it.

    • Agreed I got one and it works a treat

    • +1

I came in with very low expectations, but expected at least it would work on small branches.
Maybe I got the chain on wrong like the other person said, I’ll try again next time…

Don't waste your money. This 'toy' couldn't cut its way out of a paper bag. I bought one thinking it would be a great little pruner in between pole saw and chain saw Jobs in the backyard, and wow was I mistaken.

You must have some seriously tough brown paper bags. Mine works exactly like this.

      • If the video is accurate, people must have the chain on wrong if they can’t cut anything

To be clear, this item doesn’t come with battery/charger?

        • No just the skin. I am surprised about the negative comments on here about it. After the last storm I was just going around easily up the gum branches down easily up to 50mm+. Could get through up to 75mm, but it was then quicker to go get the petrol chainsaw.
It's a great bit of kit if you are already in the Makitas18v ecosystem.

  • I can't select free shipping? I seems to end up roughly around $36

  • Folks if its not working for you then you've obviously configured it wrong. Maybe you've got the chain the wrong way or on too tight otherwise it should be an easy cut. I've been using it to cut 150mm trunks and it works a charm.
