i've got a neewer NW-80000-USB, it's a bit rubbish for recording - not sure what the right terms are, but it picks up way too much backgound noise and has a very noticable hiss. Compared it with a Aldi USB mic i bought and the difference was night and day. Both were condenser mics. Although with the neewer, friends did notice an improvement when chatting

    • Replace the usb cable and hiss will likely disappear

Hiss is not caused by the USB cable, it's caused by a poor preamp in the mic. After the preamp the signal goes into an ADC, after that its digital all the way to the computer. You could literally replace the USB cable with paper clips, as long as the 1s and 0s make it intact to the computer, it'll sound exactly the same as the best USB cable.

        • Well it worked for me but im no expert.

          • @PlagueistheCheap: maybe i've got a shit one. I used same USB cable between the two mics

  • thanks bought for a child who is wanting to get into it. I think it's a good starting point for kids before you spend $300 on the good stuff like I have for myself.
