Sony 65" X90J TV - Is It Normal That Corners Are Darker than The Rest of The Screen?

Just got this new Sony X90J TV from JB Hi-Fi and I notice the corners are darker than the rest of the screen.

Is this normal? Will JB replace this?

It is called vignetting and yes it's normal. In normal content I doubt you'll notice it

What does it look like with a normal TV image? If you go into a JBHIFi store and look a the screen and say why is the corners darker and see what the sales person says and if they say it should not occur then say I just bought a TV and it has darker corners and as such can you get it replaced…. Set them up and see what the sales person says.

Yes it's normal for FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) TVs. I have a X9500H and it has the same vignetting. Enjoy your new TV! FALD is so much better than edge-lit.

Agree with BugsBunnyAUS, you won't notice it during normal viewing.

    • Thanks for the info, never knew that FALD panels got such vignetting. I use an old BRAVIA as my moniter and never noticed it as it should be a edge lit, better than most old monitors.

    • Thanks. Glad to know it's somewhat normal.

JV would look at that as a desirable feature.

  • My TCL 75c727 bought few weeks ago is the same, I watched some YouTube reviews on different brand FALD TV has the same problem, so I didn’t even ask the shop for emplacements.
