Fantastic price for this ticket to ride expansion especially compared to the Amazon Au price of $69.27

great buy if you love TTR

this is an expansion so you need the base tickets and trains to play, although it comes with "bullet trains"

I have this expansion. As stated you do need base game but it doesn't need to be TTR base as you just need to components to complete the game.

For Japan it's a 110 card train deck. 20 trains per player. And a score marker.
For Italy it's a 110 card train deck. 45 trains per player. And a score marker.

You can get the 110 card train deck from Europe, 1910 (not 1912), Germany, Nordic Countries or UK. (USA has a 110 card train deck too but it might still be the small cards.)

45 trains per player can be found in the USA, Europe, or Germany base game. (Nordic countries only has 3 sets of 40 trains instead of 5 sets of 45 trains.)

If you're playing 2 player you can use Germany, and Nordic instead, not enough components for more than 2 olayer in these games.

    • (USA has a 110 card train deck too but it might still be the small cards.)

      sadly yes
which doesn't make sense as the Europe version comes with full sized cards

      • The USA version is the original and they increased card size for Europe, and get to sell you full size cards in the 1910 expansion.

        • The USA version is the original and they increased card size for Europe, and get to sell you full size cards in the 1910 expansion

the game came out in 2004, and it continues to be the only edition with baby sized cards, which people keep complaining about
making the 1910 expansion a bit of a cash grab

          • @docians: Yeah, though finally prices for the base games are starting to be reasonable, they were still selling the base (Europe/USA) games for nearly $100 until the last year or so.

Willing to bet they make more money from this series than any other board game does bar perhaps monopoly.

    • (Nordic countries only has 3 sets of 40 trains instead of 5 sets of 45 trains.)

any clues as to why that version is always so pricey
is it because of the Christmassy theme?

because components wise it has fewer than TTR/ TTRE

  • at first glance, i thought its flight ticket to Japan/Italy….

    • at first glance, i thought its flight ticket to Japan/Italy….

Alan Moon will be disappointed to know

      cheers title modified

    • Well that's as close as you get to Japan/Italy these days.

  • Showing as $20.55 shipping: "This item is from a seller other than Amazon.com.au and is not eligible for FREE Delivery." Does the free shipping definitely show up if you have Prime?

    • +1

Added 2 to cart to test and can confirm free Prime international shipping shows up for $49+.

    • Does the free shipping definitely show up if you have Prime?

      no and yes

free shipping if you spend $49 or above
so if you have prime and want free shipping, you would need to spend just under $11 from Amazon US/ UK

  • Who in the NSW Riverina area wants to go in together? I don't need to buy anything else from Amazon US / UK.

    • It'll probably be back to this price soon. It was $41.30 on Cyber Monday so perhaps this is a new lower price point.

I was hemming and hawwing about it on cyber monday and by the time I had decided to buy it shot back to the previous price

expansions for TTR are almost as bad as printer cartridges
they suck us in with cheaper TTR/ TTRE
and the expansions don't have as many components but are more expensive in general :)

my order says delivery feb- march 2022, so hopefully will be here in time for Easter

my black friday games from the US have not been despatched yet :(

        • I bought this TTR expansion on Cyber Monday from Amazon US. Dispatched on 4 Dec and arrived to AusPost in my city yesterday (9 Dec), so it will likely turn up at my address next week sometime depending on how busy AusPost is at the moment.

Hopefully your orders are sent soon as well. Was it showing up as on backorder when you submitted the order?

I would like TTR UK expansion as it's meant to be one of the better expansions (as well as Japan/Italy) but the price is a rip off at recent $65-70 levels. It's almost double the cost of the base game e.g. TTR Europe was $35 on Black Friday.

          • @dhx:

bought this TTR expansion on Cyber Monday from Amazon US. Dispatched on 4 Dec

            Placed two orders on 30/11
            Neither on back order
            Neither despatched as of today

I guess until they ship, there is no guarantee that they will get here

  • How do I add the us item sold on au Amazon to camel X 3?

  • It still says available for me?

    • cheers unexpired it

  • Do people actually sit down and play these games more than once a year?

  • Guys which one is the best ticket to ride version?

    • Very subjective
General consensus (esp if you don't live in N America) Ticket to ride Europe

It has everything TTR has and more

    • TTR (North America original) is not as competitive as TTR Europe and for that reason some people say it's better (more solo play with less competitiveness) and some will say it is worse (they want more competition and excitement in blocking other players, etc). TTR NA tends to lead to players hoarding cards longer and placing them all down at once later in the game whereas TTR Europe forces players to go and build routes early and quickly as they pick up cards.

  • Now showing as unavailable :(
