Is this the size that fits inside phones? Or is that a mini-SDSC card or something?

    • +2

It's the full sized SD card for cameras and whatnot

Depends on what phone you have, the microSD is the one you may be looking for

      • correct - most android phones use MicroSD (sony - they use to use M2).

best way would be to type in google: your phone model and "gsmarena" to see the spec sheet and in that, what type of memory card it takes.

        • Thanks very much. Would be interested in a special on a 64gb MicroSD card.

        • dont think 64gb micro sd exists yet.

however it is easy to just swap out the cards? (2x32gb)

also, I think even sony phones now take micro sd (not m2)

As I understand it, the difference between microSDHC and microSDXC cards is the file system. FAT vs exFAT. If you're phone can talk a file system that can deal with >32GB, you have a chance.

        • 64gb micro sd does exist. From Australia retailers, they are ridiculously expensive at around $170 AUD.

I've ordered one from the US for $80 USD plus shipping (i combined with some other items).

I am working on the 64GB microSD with my supplier.
SanDisk is having shortage on this model, i was informed that the price will revise after Easter.

Im working to bring the 64GB microSD below $100 mark.
If you are looking for 64gb, email me your details & i will let you know when the deal is on.

      Cheers

      • Probably shortages due to sales in the US. Several stores had it for $79.95 USD. Shipping to Australia is the killer unless you combine with other things to make it worthwhile.

          Hi atlas,

          Maybe that's one reason.
Let me see if i can do the same price in AUD.

How many people would actually get a 64GB at $79.95 here in Australia?
I can try to work out the pricing side but the volume is important.
          What do you think?

          Cheers

        • I think at $74AUD im in. and so will a lot of others.

        • def be in for that price

  • Interesting. This is cheaper than the EOM Sandisk sale a week ago. Tempted to get the 32GB MicroSD except it's more than double the price of the 16GB. Are Sandisk class 6 cards faster than other brand class 10s? How do they compare with Samsung class 10?

I presume the 30MB/s written on the card is the maximum possible speed and not sustained speed?

    • 30mbs - wasnt there something tricky about this rating - i.e. its the max read speed as opposed to write speed.

      • its supposed to be the minimum write speed, but for a high speed such as this, quite a few devices cant handle it rather than the card, so it makes it hard to authenticate.

Are Sandisk class 6 cards faster than other brand class 10s? How do they compare with Samsung class 10?

A few of the older sandisk class 6 cards were very fast, because they were made before class 10 officially existed. It will be hard to find those cards now though.
Now what usually happens is that with the cheap brands, class 10 means just over 10mb/s whereas sandisk cards can be up to 20mb/s.
Other middle range brands can also be up to 20mb/s without actually advertising it, you just have to find out the exact brand and user reports. No idea with samsung though.

        • Speed ratings are very confusing. Take the Sandisk Ultra II SD's like the ones I bought today http://www.dealfox.com.au/sandisk-ultra-sdhc-4gb-card-2-pack (9.95 for 2). (note: I am in no way associated with DealFox.)

These are rated as Class 4, but allegedly do 15MB/s read AND 15MB/s write. So faster than some class 10's. I alrady have a couple of these and they certainly do > 10MB/s read and > 6MB/s write copying multiple 3MB files. this link http://more4u2c.wordpress.com/tag/sandisk-ultra-ii-15-mbytes… shows the Ultra II getting 17MB/s read and over 10MB/s write. I guess YMMV but they certainly are very fast for class 4.

        • "These are rated as Class 4, but allegedly do 15MB/s read AND 15MB/s write."

If that's the case, Sandisk missed an opportunity to just slap Class 10 on it because it helps sell. Or they could raise the price. Class 4 is not all that appealing, and if this is better than other class 10s, they really ought to call it a 10.

  • Perfect for my new Nikon J1 from Hardley Normal!
    Thanks!

  • Amazon have Sandisk on sale today as well - different to the ones on offer here but all Class 10.

    • Hi yugiyao,

Is it working for you now?

      Cheers

  • sorry for my ignorance,
am I right in assuming a class 6 micro sd card will function exactly the same as a normal class 6 sd card (speed, reliability etc), even if i use it with an adapter? I like the idea of being able to use it amongst several devices that's all.

    Cheers

    • +1

      Hi,

You're right, a class 6 micro sd will work exactly as a normal sd. It's the same thing, no negative effects.

      Cheers
