[Anaconda] Bad Customer Support with Invalid Coupon

I had a bad customer support experience with Anaconda and I would like to share.

I've received an email from them giving me a targeted coupon for $15 off $40, because I haven't bought anything from them for a while.

I logged in to my account and added 2 items for $50. I applied the code but it said coupon invalid.

Then I filled the contact form about this issue, it takes them 8 days to reply to me back through email, asking me to log in to my account in Chrome, which I've already done.

I didn't want to wait another 8 days to get their reply so I called them directly, I waited 14mins in the queue and someone pick up the line. I explained the issue and the support said the same thing asking me to log in to my account in Chrome, and hung up the call before I made a response without a reason. No callback was made to me after.

I was pretty angry about their failed coupon system and poor customer support. I felt like this is a kind of email scam and was not sure if I can report it to ACCC.

EDIT: Changed to full-priced items and still the same error message, and it's not about T&C with "Club Price". (would be lame given 80% of the items are in club price)

Yeah, 100% report it to the ACCC. They love nothing more than chasing up voucher codes for free credit for people who didn't end up buying anything anyway.

Or, you know, just don't use Anaconda again??

Cool story bro, perhaps give whingepool a try to help you solve your problem

Oz Bargain is the new Whingepool.

    • productreview is also popular with people expressing their feelings.

It's not a scam though is it, it's incompetence. ACCC wont do anything and you will continue to waste more time than you already have.

It is only $15, as you yourself have said you have not spent money with them in a long time, so just walk away, spend your money elsewhere and please don't let yourself get so wound up by such trivial things.

Over $15 you have sent an email complaint, been on hold to their call centre, written an angry OzBargain post and are thinking of going to ACCC. I am sure you have better things to be doing.

How do you survive in the real world, natural selection is clearly not working.

    • He's such an ahem, Richard

this is a kind of email scam

    No it's not.

It's just a typical "I don't care" Customer Support problem.

ACCC won't bother chasing up such a trivial issue.

Your best bet is to leave negative reviews for them.

They gave you voucher so you would buy something. Voucher didn't work so you didn't buy anything….. /thread

I logged in to my account and added 2 items for $50. I applied the code but it said coupon invalid.

No it says… "promo code is invalid or conditions have not been met"

I can see from your cart you already are receiving a $30 discount on the items added.

Have you reviewed the $15 promo T&C to see what they say? I assume it is on 'full priced' items only.

Try again, but this time add a 'full priced' item in your cart and see what happens.

Was about to say the same thing. It's not a gift card, it's a promotional voucher which likely has T&Cs that state "not in conjunction with any other offer"

    • +2

I missed his images.. you are dead right. Most retailers don't allow stacking of discounts. For sure the offer was 'not in conjunction' which makes this pointless bellyaching even worse.

Changed to full-priced items and still the same. It would be stupid if there's T&C like that, given 80% of the item is with "Club Price" in the website.

      • +1

I don't make the T&Cs up…… So what do they say? I assumed you have looked to see you meet the 'conditions' of the promo?

        Post them here.

  • Sorry to hear. When waiting on hold, do they play the anaconda song? (https://www.google.com/search?q=anaconda+song+link&client=ms…)

    • Asking the tough questions 🙂

  • because we've missed you Richard

Looks like they pulled the dick move on this occasion. Or did they?

You have written code for coupon redemptionaccording to your website so surely you know how it works.

  • The shop's name should give you some clue that they are going to be a really big snake in the grass.
