Need new brakes

Hi everyone.

I really need to get my brakes done and as much as years ago I could do it misled due to severe psoriatic arthritis its just impossible. So being on a pension every dollar counts. I live in the Parramatta area so if anyone knows of a place with reasonable prices or even a Mechanic that will charge just labour while I buy the parts as my local guy wont let me supply parts and Lubemobile want $386. Thanks everyone

  • Sorry cant help but I live in the same area and I would love to know someone with reasonable prices too. I need to get my rear brakes done. It cost me $350 to get the front ones done a few months ago (that was a mechanic in North Parramatta).

  • Brakes have become heaps more expensive, because the government don't allow importation of the old brakes from Canada/China which were made of asbestos based products.

  • Car make model…??

All pads or front or back only?

    Rotors ok??

    Fluid ok??

Regardless of cost go for Bendix pads you wont regret it. The no name cheapies are shocking.

  • Another option is find a car forum, join there, plead your case with them and hopefully someone will come and do it for you for a slab of beer.

  • I am yet to find a decent mechanic in the Parramatta area that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

The only mechanic I've had a decent experience with was R W Brown, however I'm not sure on their pricing for brake changing.

I was in your situation a few months ago, and called around for someone to change my brakes because I didn't have all the tools needed and I was lazy. The cheapest I came across was Kmart Tyre and Auto in North Rocks, and I think they wanted a bit under $200 and I was supplying the Brakes.

Eventually I just went ahead and changed my brakes myself.

  • parramatta is an expensive area

try mechanics out to merrylands yennora fairfield, maybe even rydalmere type area

both the mechanics i use have no issue with me supplying oil, pads, filters

  • I used to use J&B at north parra, bad sadly I think they are no longer in business.

as suggested above, try kmart at north rocks - kmart service prices are quite competitive, so worth a try.
They can also be haggled with (to beat a competitor's price).
