Is It Possible to Install a Caroma Luna Basin Mixer (Deck Hole of 34-36mm Required) to an 20 Year Old 3 Holes Basin?

Try to help my 85 year old aunt to convert her cross basin taps to a mixer tap. Have asked staff in several Bunnings and got mixed answers. Will get a plumber in later (need to change 6 sets of taps all together) but need to purchase the correct hardware first. Cannot find measurement of basin holes from Google search and cannot open the tap to measure myself. Can anyone give some advice. Thanks.

Yes but you need to cover the 2 left over holes and that looks shite.

For an elderly person try the 1/4 turn lever taps. My MIL absolutely loves these things. Super easy to get full pressure with a light bump with a hand. You can easily install yourself and save a bomb.

    Exhibit A

From memory the thread of most modern mixer taps is 32mm. There will be a flange in the top and the screw on mount will be about 40mm so should be good to install (assuming enough room under the basin)

need to change 6 sets of taps

Does your aunt run a bed and breakfast or something? Holy 6 bathroom house batman.

  • Does your aunt run a bed and breakfast or something? Holy 6 bathroom house batman.

    1. Kitchen
    2. Bathroom basin
    3. Bathroom shower
    4. Bathroom tub
    5. Laundry
    6. Ensuite ?
    • no ensuite but washing machine stops

  • if you don't care about the basin then just use a rasp to widen one of the holes to a suitable diameter then fit the mixer

    • Have you ever tried to rasp ceramic?

      • i've done a porcelain basin. quite easy using a hand rasp.

        • Cool. I thought it would chip or potentially crack.

My aunt's basin is not ceramic. I think it is acrylic. Is it easy to enlarge if required?
