Merbau Decking with Hidden Fasteners

Hi Ozbargainers,

Have anyone in this group DIY or professionally done hardwood decking with hidden fasteners? Can you share your experience going with this option in the long term?
I’m looking to use Camo hidden fastener tool for fastening the screws. If you have used this tool for your decking, your feedback is appreciated!
I know hidden fasteners in hardwood decking is not very common, so I’m worried if they show cupping or warping in the long run as the merbau is quite expensive and I don’t want to ruin my decking in 2 years time.

I’ve used that kit in the past and not a fan of it. Given the timber shortage I recommend Specrite from Bunnings and the plastic clip lock in system. Look it up. So very easy to install.

  Thanks “, only my concern with composite decking boards is too hot in summer. Also, any scratches cannot be simply repaired!

      I have never heard of installing those hidden clips to merbau, unless they are biscuit grooved. Can you please show me an image of your suggestion?

        I’ve built easily over a 50 decks using every single type of product you can think of. The above is the easiest and most efficient. After a year use this and it will be as good as new.

Used it, loved it. Highly recommend. Not only does it look great, but the Camo tool deals with the challenges of even spacing between boards.

  Thanks. Did you use it for 90 mm or 140 mm boards? I heard 140 mm is more prone to cupping
