Free Rechargeable LED Torch (RRP $84.90) with Purchase of a Cordless Hedge Trimmer for $219.90

00

We've received a lot of positive feedback regarding our LED Torches lately, so we thought that with the days growing shorter, it would make sense to put them on offer.

This week, for every purchase of a Cordless Hedge Trimmer w/ Additional Battery Pack ($219.90) we're giving away a free Blazer XL Rechargeable Torch (regularly sells for $84.90).

Postage varies from $8.00 in the Sydney metro area to $14.00 in WA and TAS. There's also the option to pick up in-person at our warehouse in Brookvale located in Sydney's Northern Beaches.

The hedge trimmers have been immensely popular due to the unusually wet summer and out of control shrubs/hedges that have resulted. What makes our hedge trimmers shine is the fact that they are extremely light and have a rotating handle for improved ergonomics. It's perfect for the elderly or people with mobility restrictions who would normally have issues handling the weight and awkward angles of other trimmers. Despite the light weight, these trimmers pack a punch and deliver 30 mins of continuous use on a single charge(the additional battery doubles this to 1 hour).

The CREE LED found in this torch is extremely efficient and puts out about 300 lumens (visible for about 300m at night) for up to 5 hours on a single charge. The charger is built into the torch and a full recharge takes about 6 hours. It is waterproof and extremely durable. It also features a glass lens cover, to ensure clarity of the beam at extreme distances. In short, this is a serious torch - you would not want to shine it in anyone's eyes.

Thanks to the ozbargainers who have shared their hoselink stories and experiences over the past few weeks. This site has generated a huge amount of actionable feedback that we have taken on board to improve our product and service.

If you have any suggestions, questions or issues regarding any Hoselink product, please don't hesitate to post here and I will reply as quickly as possible. Alternatively, you may email [email protected] or call 1300 900 617 during regular business hours.

Cheers!

  • Any link to those reviews?? or are these "Internal " reviews?

We've received a lot of rave reviews about our LED Torches lately, so we thought that with the days growing shorter, it would make sense to put them on offer.

    • Ah, good point - these reviews tend to be the positive feedback we have received from customers regarding the torches. That said, I do have a few testimonials that came in via email I can post.

We have a couple of good reviews posted on our site about our smaller torch:
      http://www.hoselink.com.au/buy/rechargeable-led-torch-lumina…

The two torches are similar, but the larger one has a much larger battery and delivers a brighter beam.

Post updated to state "feedback" instead of "reviews".

Your Deal of the week seems a "touch" overpriced……

    Compared to:
    http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/BuyDetailsPage.aspx?it…
sure its no load speed is only 1400RPM, but pretty much all the other specs are the same, EXCEPT the price,as it's only $29 +approx $11 delivery.

OK so i dont get a torch for free but i can pay another $20 for this one. 120lumen CREE LED.
    http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/BuyDetailsPage.aspx?it…

i dont need either, as i have a Husquvana petrol hedge trimmer but this is ozbargain.
Dont try and rip us off.

    • Well there is a big difference between Li-Ion and Ni-Cd batteries so we could be comparing BMWs with Daewoos, but having said that I have no idea of the quality of the respective hedge trimmers and I wouldn't spend $200+ on what is effectively a no name brand.

      • Thank you for pointing out the differences in batteries - the type of battery used makes a massive difference!

Although we aren't established as a big brand name, I can assure you that anything that you buy from us beats what's offered at similar prices elsewhere by a long shot.

We're focused on testing and development to deliver products that offer the best value for money and back them up with first-class customer support.

I appreciate that there are some extremely cheap hedge trimmers available, but I don't think that the example provided is a fair one. Reading the description on the Harvey Norman website, I would be wary of the fact that they emphasise this is for light work only and in bold "soft foliage and small hedges". It raises red flags that they would try to temper expectations regarding the performance of this product in the sales text.

Ours runs at 2300RPM compared to the 1400PRM for the example provided, has a longer blade, and a larger cutting diameter. It is suitable for the majority of garden tasks required by the majority of Australians.

Ours features a long life li-ion battery which is significantly more expensive to produce, but delivers more power for a much longer period of time. Ni-cad batteries used in the example are much heavier and rapidly develop a memory which means this will be nearly unusable within a couple of years. Where would one get a replacement battery? In fact, the most expensive cost in the production of our hedge trimmer is the li-ion battery - of which two are included with ours.

Ours may not pack the punch of a petrol hedge trimmer, but a petrol trimmer is much heavier (well over twice as heavy of ours when filled), much noisier, and requires refilling/maintenance.

I would be interested to know the warranty of the hedge trimmer in the example provided. It isn't listed and neither is the manufacturer. Ours comes with a 2 year warranty and our service is second to none. For some examples, please read some of the other comments from ozbargainers on our other posts or visit our customer testimonial page

The LED Torch example provided is not a reasonable comparison. Ours delivers over twice the amount of brightness (300 lumens compared to 120 of the example), comes with a high-powered Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery and built-in charger. What is the duration of the beam provided on a set of batteries for the example provided? As above, who is the manufacturer and what is the warranty? (ours is 2 years)

If you haven't noticed. Your cost price are a few dollars. You say you save $84.00

But really it isn't a deal? Your prices are extremely high who is going to spend $219 on a hose?

    Your kidding yourself…

    • Compared to what's available elsewhere, $84.90 is a very reasonable price for our Torch.
Getting it for free would likely be considered a deal to anyone who is in the market for a great hedge trimmer.

  • Why cordless? For cutting hedges out in the middle of the forrest?

OK, I admit it. I did once cut through the power cable of my corded trimmer.
But only once, and it cost $40, not $220, and never runs flat.

And $84 for a Cree-XRE ? Sure. And I'll start buying my garden hoses from dealextreme.

What? They do sell them?! I was being sarcastic.

      What the…. $61.10 for a cheap looking hose & spray gun o.O

      Dreaming!!!

    • I can think of a number of reasons why cordless would be preferred:
      - Easy to store and put away between use.
      - No Cord to rub up against the side of your house.
      - No need to have a power outlet near by
      - No need for extension cords
      - No additional weight due to cords
      - No tangles
      - Eliminates the potential of cutting through the cord (as you have pointed out).

Compared to what's available elsewhere, getting a high powered, CREE LED Torch, with a long-life rechargeable battery, included charger, 2 year warranty, from an Australian company for $84.90 is a good deal in its own right.

I may be biased, but if I were to buy a hose package online, that one would not be on my short list. That has to be some of the cheapest looking hose and plastic gun/fittings I have seen. Also, I'm through with click-on style fittings - nothing but trouble.

Our 18m TekFlex hose and Ned Kelly Starter Kit Comes to $55 before postage and would be superior in every way.

Aldi have an electric hedge trimmer coming up in next weeks (Sat 14th April) catalogue thats $129.
Also comes with an extension handle (1150mm) that has built in controls.
Might also be worth a look if you are in the market.

Special buys for the 14-04-2012 are not online at time of posting this but I saw it in the pamphlet.

    • The OP's deal is now over so comparisons dont really mean jack now but here is what I was referring to.
      http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_21483.htm
      Electric Hedge Trimmer $129
      350W
      Dual action cutting blades
      5 position cutting blade adjustment
      Large hand protection shield
      510mm cutting length
Includes extension handle (1150mm) that has built-in controls

  • Okay, so if someone is after a CHEAP hedge trimmer and has very litte work to do with it, the alternatives that have been given might be valid, but to say that Aldi has an electric hedge trimmer for $100 less, (in determining whether this is a good price or not,) or to compare the price with the thing Hardly Normal is offering is simply not reasonable. Add as least $30 for a long, heavy extension cord, and you've reduced the price difference for starters. And seriously, to compare Aldi electrical products with almost anything is a bit hit and miss. While many are a good buy, others also fail dismally in comparison with other brands,

I don't need a torch, so I wouldn't base my hedge trimmer buying decision on this offer. Would I spend $219 on a hedge trimmer if I needed one? Absolutely, if I knew it was a quality product that was going to work properly, had enough grunt to do the job I needed it to do, would last a reasonable time and would be hassle-free. The spare battery is a definite plus - the risk of the battery running out before I'd finished a job would be a deterrant to some.

Before I did that though, OP, I'd want to see mention somewhere of a brand and model number so I can do some genuine comparisons and search for reviews other than testimonials on the site that is selling the product.

    • The Aldi suggestion isnt there to compare with this one, its a possible alternative for those in the market.
I didnt post any specs for comparison.
You are making it out as a comparison, then further in your post you ask for more details from Hoselink so you can do some "genuine comparisons"??

I can only really compare with something I already have and only paid $32.32 delivered and 2yr warranty.
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/49725
Now that was a bargain, and I only pay about $15-$20 for a long heavy extension cord, IF you dont have one.
