If I Buy a Bigger Monitor E.g. 34" Can I Manually Bring It down to 27"

I was wondering if I manage to snatch a 1440p curved screen gaming monitor at a great price but the monitor is bigger than my preferences can I manually adjust the screen to display within 27"?? Or smaller than its intended display? edit: during gaming, don't care as much for normal use.

I'm sure I've seen pictures of monitors displaying smaller than the total size but I am wondering if it's only a feature on SOME monitors, not all. Can someone assure me it's a standard feature?

Thanks community.

Why would you need to do this? It can never be to big:)

Couldn't you just adjust the size of the web page to the desired size?
save your coin get what you want and just buy the size you need.

If it is for a game it should be adjustable in the settings/display resolution

    • yeah i was thinking for games. thanks for your response

You can do it on SOME monitors in the monitor itself. While it's getting a little more common, it's not exactly a common feature and definitely not standard. Just to be sure, I looked in the menu of the monitors on my desk and none of them had that feature.

As Loot mentioned, you can usually adjust settings in programs so you can size the windows to the size you require.

I like the enthusiasm, but it can be. There are sizes that are simply too big for the given area/distance from user. While 34" isn't too big a size for a typical desk (a typical user will grow to appreciate and even prefer the larger screen size), there are personal preferences that come into play.

    • hey thanks a lot for your response.
I guess I'll snatch a bigger screen and just do in-game settings to my desired width and whatnot. So yeah, I was thinking in the lines of gaming.

Hey, just a heads up, some game resort to shrinking the image to the bottom left of the screen. Not sure how that would workout on a curved screen, or if windowed mode will let you move the image.

34" Being an ultrawide you want to scale down? I.e. change the aspect ratio from 21:9 to 16:9? Easy done.

Simple to change the display resolution in Windows, or in most games to a 2440x1440 resolution. Most ultrawides will also accept 16:9 inputs natively e.g. an Xbox or PS5 without having to do any changes at all, it'll just work for you at 16:9.

    • Does switching from 21:9 to 16:9 kill resolution? Am hoping I can sustain 2440x1440p
      thank you

You'd get 2 black bars on the sides going from 3440x1440 to 2560x1440 in games. That's how it was on my LG ultrawide when playing games that didn't support ultrawide resolutions.

You will loose resolution unlike with a CRT.

1440p curved screen gaming monitor at a great price

Make sure it's not a cheap spec one with crap panel otherwise there's no point…

    • roger that

  • Gaming is literally the reason someone would want a 34" Ultrawide, 16:9 looks like shit in comparison.

    Yes
You can run the monitor at lower than its native resolution with the image centered.
This will give you black bars at the top and sides though.

You will need to change the settings on your GPU software to turn scaling OFF though.
You also will need to activate a setting that does the scaling on the GPU not on the monitor.

I've done this when I wanted to use my ultra-wide on an application that didn't work well with ultrawide
so I set it up with black bars at the sides at a 2540x1440 resolution and it fixed my issue.
