Which Garden Shredder for Palm Fronds - Bosch, Ryobi, Yard Force or Ozito

Hi Ozbargains,

I need to buy a garden shredder for long term use around the garden. I'm especially looking to shred lots of palm fronds in the long term.

From the marketing, there are only 3 options on the market that can handle palm fronds.

Bosch Turbine Cut Shredder AXT 23 TC for $799 at Mitre10 https://www.mitre10.com.au/bosch-turbine-shredder-2300w-axt-…
Ryobi Silent Crushing Shredder for $429 at Bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-2400w-crushing-shredder_p0…
Edit: Yard Force Silent Shredder for $299 at Mitre10 https://www.mitre10.com.au/yard-force-240v-silent-shredder
Ozito Silent Garden Shredder for $299 at Bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-2400w-silent-garden-shredd…

Appreciate if you could share your experience with me and others to see which one is the better option

Thanks in advance.

Edit.
Yard Force have just told me that their Silent Garden Shredder can also do palm fronds - I have amended the list to include it.

  • Just get the ozito. These machines are so simple so it's not worth paying more for, but they work incredibly well.
Check out the 50+ page thread on whirlpool about them and how good they are… and how people are addicted to using them. I can be quite therapeutic watching them quietly chomp branches into chips

  • +1 ozito

Had it 4 years so far and it’s a solid worker

  • Palms were always such a pain, but the Ozito slowly but surely works through like a boss. You do have it make sure the exit chute remains clear, and it would be nice if it was taller, but a solid recommend from me. I have 13 palm trees so it gets a lot of use.

    • Thanks. I have 11 mature palms on the property and my only concern with the ozito was that its capacity appeared to be 40mm max while the others did 45mm and I hear that the Bosch can handle upto 55mm

  • I was reading that Whirlpool thread yesterday. The Ozito sounds good, but from what I could gather the Ryobi is better when it comes to very leafy items. Such items seem to get a bit stuck in the Ozito, and need a bit of a help to push them through, but nothing catastrophic. The Ozito sounds like it is a bit better with auto-feeding.
Either option is good though, but whatever you do, don't go for the Ozito "rapid" shredder. It is much cheaper, but apparently it is loud a.f. and the neighbours will hate you.

    • Thanks so much. I'm told that the rapid shredder can't handle palm fronds.

  • Thanks for reminding me, more toys to buy!!

Side note, this is the sort of product i'd rather buy 2nd hand, fb marketplace will often have them a lot cheaper

    • Thanks. Will keep an eye open.
