Windows Laptop below $1300

Hi All,
I was after a windows laptop for remote access. Budget is around 1200+-
I am considering Surface Laptop 4 (Ryzen) vs XPS 15 2in1 (Intel)

Please advise what would be the best choice or any other recomendation.

Thanks

Rusho

    Lenovo carbon x1
    Probably will be refurbished though
But seriously sh1ts all over anything else in terms of build quality, durability and ease of use, not to mention keyboard quality is great.

    Have a surface at work.
Terrible battery life, thin and flimsy and endless issues with graphics card problems/dropping out of displays.

    • Thats not really within their budget new though

      • Didn't state it had to be new ;)

    • Funny how we all get different expiriences :)

I have a gen 9 x1 carbon too. But actually not that impressed with it. Noisy coil wine and battery life not so great.
Had a power outage one day, started the day on full power, set battery saver and brightness two notches from bottom. It only lasted 9 til 3:30, about 6 hours active use. I was hoping for 8+, especially with how I had set it up. No processes where eating CPU, etc… so not sure why it was short lived.

Opposing that, my daughters surface pro 7+ has been awesome, the i5 in that model is fanless (pro 8 no longer fanless) and seems to last well.

Personal opinion is the surface laptop 4 is a solid device and the ryzen in it, even though zen 2 based, gives a better expirience battery wise. The 3:2 screen layout seems a plus if you are dealing with lots of documents or webpages.
I was looking at it for my partner, but TBH the downside for her was the alcantara (personal taste) while for the model with the metal chassy I couldn't justify the price premium :-/.
Downside, like all mobile ryzens, is no thunderbolt 4. But does have usb-c charging / DP.

I haven't seen 2-in-1 xps dells for your price range? At least not at the screen size equiv to the 13.5 surface.
I would personally steer clear of inspirons that are in your range.

I'm on the hunt in your price range as well, will see what I can turn up boxing day ish.
