Epic has literally swamped people with games since 2018. I think I've got more Epic Games than game pass ultimate at this point …

      • -4

Yeah but most aren’t worth playing

        • What games do you like then?

        • Which ones aren’t worth playing?

i don't like Epic as a company, and the fact that they are 40% owned by Tencent. I'd rather avoid supporting them if possible (both Epic and Tencent). I haven't claimed a single freebie they've handed out.

I play league of legends occasionally which is also owned by Tencent but I don't spend a dime in that game so I don't feel too bad about it. You can argue that claiming a free game is also not spending a dime, but the ulterior motive of their largesse is to build up their platform and become the top dog PC game distributor, similar to game pass's goal of growing the platform. Playing League for free is also promoting the game, but at least League will always be free. Epic's goal is for players to ditch steam/origin/uplay/bnet and get people to some day buy all their games on Epic.

I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I personally am ok with buying games over getting them for free at Epic.

Epic has literally swamped people with games since 2018.

I can assure you, nothing given out for free is without ulterior motives. In the lawsuit with Apple, their books had to be turned over to the court, and the judge told them what they were doing was clearly unsustainable. They're losing money, and it's not because they're a charity. Which means, they have other purposes in mind. The whole Apple/Google lawsuit has left a sour taste in my mouth. Epic is just a shitty company.

        • You do you bro… I reciprocate the same sentiments for both Apple and Google.
          Happy new year in advance.

        • Why doesn't Apple allow other store fronts to be installed on their general purpose smart phones? They are definitely not the good guys here. At least on Android you can install different store fronts, so Epic and others can choose not to pay the 30% share to Google.

It looks like Prey will be tomorrow's game, the helmet is unmistakable in the teaser image.

Prey is definitely worth a play. One of my favourites. I love space and sci-fi games, as well as everything Arkane has released. If you want to test yourself with the completely different ways to play the game, no spoilers, then it's even more enjoyable.

Fantastic game. Easily ~200 hours for a full playthrough no joke.

Just be aware it's brutally challenging. Keep the difficulty level low and brushing up on the pathfinder ruleset with a few YouTube videos will save you immense amount of time and frustration down the line.

    • thanks for the tip. Any links on those youtube videos you would recommend? Also is it a matter of planning your character from the beginning or can you YOLO it and still have a fun/good/successful time?

      • Ones I watched are years old by now. I'd just search kingmaker beginners guide and watch the top few. Get an idea of the ruleset and maybe some beginner builds. For a first playthrough I'd stick to single classes (ie 20 levels in one class). You can do some crazy multi classing in pathfinder but can sxrrw yourself if you don't plan ahead.

  • Awesome game. Was looking for something to play after Divinity Original Sin 2. Its like that, but way less hand holding. Unfortunately i hit a wall someone early, like spider caves or something and kept getting my ass handed to me. Been long enough that i could probably start fresh with the diffuculty down.

There are a couple of really tricky places, and one mega hard enemy. But with time and patience, you'll get the hang of it. Another great thing about the game is there is no "right" way to play it, any number of strategies can work, depending on what you find more fun.

    Thanks Dealbot!

    • No problem mate

  • Its showing unavailable…

Edit: Silly me, didn't realised Epic Games had logged me out.

  • I don't get it. Purely from a marketing perspective giving away a AAA game on Christmas would get so much coverage. Considering they're only giving these away to get coverage and recognition why give away such a low ball average game on Christmas? Last year I think it was even a repeat. Don't get me wrong, I love what they giving away over the late couple of years but it's just puzzling to me.

It's still the 24th in the US - so the next game, which is rumored to be Prey, will be their Christmas day game.

      • I don't think that's true. This is 25th Dec game.

PS not complaining just think it's weird because freebies are about publicity and what better publicity than giving away something epic for xmas?

        • Time in LA when Prey comes out: 8:00am. Seems like Christmas day game to the US.

    • why give away such a low ball average game on Christmas?

My first thought would be $$$

      • Added: There's a few DLC's available and perhaps they've got a new game coming out soon.
  • Cheers and Merry Christmas!
