eBay Plus Sellers Cancelling or Sending by Letter Post

Has anyone had experience with buying something with eBay plus and the seller just sending it with regular letter post, (non express) or outright cancelling it?

I often specifically look for eBay plus listings for the shipping and a few times, at least 4 from memory have send the item with regular post, despite selecting express. Another has outright cancelled the order saying they "aren't supposed to be eBay plus"

Makes me wonder what the value is if sellers just can disregard it.

  • As a seller, eBay make it very hard to know that it needs to be shipped express. You essentially need to go digging into the menus and show the order details and then look at the postage field. Also eBay only pay the seller $4 compo while express can be quite a bit more.

I have never sent regular or cancelled though. If you allow your item to be sold Plus, you need to stand by it.

    • Ebay considers Sendle to be 'Express' and it's often cheaper or if not only a few dollars more. So it's not excuse to not factor it in.

Buyers have the right to complain or risk Ebay refunds if the item is overdue due to the mismatch of delivery dates vs actual service used.

      • Sendle takes forever. Aus Post express is often next day. eBay are trying to compete with Amazon. Sending via Sendle does not do that. I have no issues forking out for aus post. I just wish eBay made it clearer when an item needs to be shipped express.

    • Items less than $15 eBay pays $2.50 extra.

Ebay has told sellers that registered Australia Post letter is ok for eBay plus shipments. Sellers just follow the eBay's advice.

      • I would find if they sent it as a tracked letter with a priority stamp acceptable, but I’ve never had anyone do that yet.

  • Ebay do not make it easy for sellers. I don’t even need express on items I buy but they have it by default.
