Power Button & Switching Line for DELL XPS 8700 0F7M7N

My Dell XPS 8700 desktop power switch is broken and computer is not powering on.

I am looking for a Power Button & Switching Line for DELL XPS 8700 0F7M7N to replace this part. I have searched the internet and there are two versions available, one with the black plastic case in which the 2 LEDs and the switch is pre installed. The other one is without the black plastic case - ie just the cable with the 2 LEDs and the switch - I need to put it into my current plastic black case.

I am not sure how easy it is to insert the LEDs and the switch into the black plastic case. If anyone know of any instructions / Youtube videos available to remove and insert the LEDs and the switch into the black plastic case. Also would like to know if this part can be purchased locally part number - 0F7M7N.

Thank you very much for information on this matter. Appreciate your assistance.

For the short term, and potentially long term, you can always route the reset button cable through to the motherboard's pins for the power button - how often do you actually use the reset feature anyway? Process is super simple - open the case, unplug the cable going into the motherboard for the power button, unplug the reset button cable, then plug the reset cable into the pins the power button was plugged into. You can (optionally) plug the power cable into the reset pins, but that's more to avoid a loose cable than anything else.

Can't help with the other stuff sorry, but if you're unsure, the "whole package" option is usually easier, but I'm not familiar with this case.

Need to mod the connector block to do that, pwr/rst/spkr etc are grouped into the one plug on the Dell.

  • Thanks Elegant Giant for your advice. Good suggestion. I have few old computers, hope i can find suitable cable to use. Appreciate your time.
