Amazon UK warranty process for HDDs?

Hi all,

I've spotted a boxing day deal for a portable HDD ( https://www.amazon.com.au/Seagate-Expansion-External-Playsta… )

Which seems okay - but it's from Amazon UK via Amazon UK.

If it's got issues, how does the warranty process work? Id hate to send it back on my own coin if it arrives with loads of bad sectors etc.

Cheers!

You go through Amazon.com.au as that’s the retailer you bought it from. Regardless where they source it from.

  • From my experience you go through Amazon AU however you will need to pay for the return postage, however they will reimburse you.

  • You also have the option to contact Seagate directly. Sometimes they can give you free local RMA postage and also a replacement without having to send back overseas, but it does depend on the fine print and employee flexibility.

    • Local RMA from seagate doesn’t cover postage. You need to pay for postage. I’m in the process of returning a faulty SSD and I need to send it to their depot at Botany Bay with tracking. Can’t drop it off either.
