Which Wireless Headphones to Use with Laptop

Hi All,

My old Bose wired headphones are giving up and I am on the lookout for replacements that have great call and sound quality.

I was opting for the Jabra 85t but not sure if that is the best option to use with my 5400 series Dell laptop Latitude.

Does anyone have constructive feedback on the 85ts? Is there a better option within that price range?

  • i use QC35ii's and they have been flawless for sound and call quality, people on the other side of the call have commented that they are clear and crisp for teams calls

I use WH-1000XM4 mainly as find they switch between mobile and laptop very easily. Excellent sound and I can hear each person clearly when on group calls and I am also clear [without need to raise voice] according to them.

As a back up I have Anker Soundcore Life Dot 2 that are decent. I can hear people well considering their form factor - yet if on a group call i can often sound distant yet if one on one i am crystal clear.

If you are a Jabra fan - they have some decent over ear headsets. Colleague uses Evolve 75 that has a mic boom that can be moved to mute. Beaut when WFH or on the move. Bit pricey - yet he swears by them.

When you pair the WH-1000XM4 with laptop, which sound setting do you pick to use it like a headset? I find that if I choose hands free, the audio quality is very poor but let's me use the mic. The stereo option has great sound but no mic?

When I first set it up I waited to choose WH-1000XM4 when it showed up via BT. I recall the instructions saying that I needed to wait as there were two options to connect with when it first pairs. https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wh1000xm4/v1/en/contents/TP00…
If [WH-1000XM4] and [LE_WH-1000XM4] are displayed, select [WH-1000XM4]. [LE_WH-1000XM4] will be displayed first, but wait until [WH-1000XM4] is displayed. It may take about 30 seconds to 1 minute for [WH-1000XM4] to be displayed. If [WH-1000XM4] is not displayed, try again

When am on on Teams I use 'Headset (WH-1000XM4 Hands-Free AG Audio)' when not [like now] it is on Headphones (WH… Stereo) and it will switch between them automatically - as i have the Headset profile assigned to Speaker and Microphone within Teams - with no problems.

I have a HP ProBook 430 G4 running W10 Pro 21H1 fwiw and it has its own HP audio control panel

Another vote for the Sony 1000XM4. They are one of the best sets you can get right now.

If it’s for work purposes, Team/Zoom calls, highly recommended the Palatronic 5200 UC, also works well with mobile calls.
Worth it and bonus is 100% tax write off.
