Yellowing on New Anker USB-C Hub Cable. What to Do?

Recently as part of Catch's Boxing Day Sale I Purchased an Anker USB-C HUB w/ Ethernet & Power Delivery for $10.50 (selling for around $78 at JW Computers).

However, when I opened the USB-C hub today I noticed significant yellowing at the ends of the cable on this supposedly new item. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty it is just cosmetic and won't impact it functionally, though it would be nice if it didn't look used. (See Pic 1 and Pic 2)

So I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with Catch customer support or Anker customer support and whether I should bother contacting them or are they a pain to deal with?

Not really bothered sending the USB-C Hub back considering it works and its $10, just curious to see whether both companies are willing to send a new one just like other businesses I have contacted in the past. Maybe I can do a warranty claim?

Although I might consider it if it's free.

Thanks

Do the cables work as they should?

Contact them anyway and let them know of the issue. Because it's a very low value product, they might just send you out new ones and tell you to keep those yellow ones.

  • Also just keep an eye on them in the first week anyway and see if they get too warm. WORST case it's shorting occasionally, but if it was sealed so to speak, it shouldn't have already been yellow from that issue. Hoping it's just cosmetic though.

    • It does get warm even without use but, nothing alarming I guess but we'll see

  • If it’s yellow… let it mellow especially if you only paid $10 for it. Don’t stress and use it until it breaks. Life is too short to stress over small things like this? Unless of course size matters to you? 😜

  • Probably just been on the shelf for a long ass time

    • It’s had many birthdays in the warehouse.

    Ask for replacement.

    Not been accurately described.

Pics show white, you ended up with a yella.

    • Did you pee on it?

      • If I did, I would be telling myself to drink more water. The yellowing on the hub joint looks concerning!

  • now you know why they were $10 instead of $80 …

    • yeh haha
Though I expect better from Anker

    • You have to pay a company a 700% premium for them to get the colour correct..? 😅
