  • Damn, this is a brilliant price for it. Paid $68 a month or so ago for the PS5 version.

Side-question: I've been recently enjoying the Yakuza franchise - what title/franchise could any OzB user recommend for next?

Edit: And yeah, it should have a free PS5 upgrade.

Definitely get onto Sleeping Dogs if you haven't already. Other than that I purchased Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise which is from the same studio I believe, yet to get to it though and it's sitting pretty in the pile of shame/glory.

      • Heihachi is right. Other than that there's the Shemmue series where the Yakuza concept evolved from. In saying that I don't know how good it is since I haven't personally played them.

FotN is fun but can be a bit repetitive. Combat is fun but side quests are ok and the environment is bland. Still, not a bad game if solely for the combat.

Also Yakuza Dead Souls, I personally didn't like it but it's worth a try. Also, unless you have really good reaction time don't bother with the hard mode in this game. The QTEs are too damn fast

Lastly, while not a Yakuza game I highly recommend Binary Domain. It was made by the Yakuza team and its damn underated. The action is damn fun and the story is not bad though campy af.

Sleeping Dogs is one of the most underrated game of all time

    • I don't think you will ever find a game or series closer to Yakuza, Yakuza does its own thing.

There is obviously the Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise game everyone has forgotten about and that was made by the Yakuza Studio. I liked it but the Sub-stories are weak compared to the Yakuza games.

Shenmue and Sleeping Dogs are closest only due to the fact they have campyness to them.

    • Yakuza Like a Dragon if you haven't played it already.

  • Can confirm (as far as articles) that the PS4 version is upgradable to PS5, but seeing as upgrades are treated as DLC,
you may need to do the usual account fiddling to get it to work on an Australian PSN account.

Tempted to grab this now at this low price with a PS5 upgrade.

I guess I better finish the 1st game… and maybe tackle the rest of the Yakuza series stuck in the back log.

    • You can use UK codes with an Australian account, I got the Persona 5 Royal Steelbook Edition from Amazon UK and was able to use the theme code that came with it.

    • I think AU and EU sharing same code
