Leather Care for Old Jacket

Hello,

I got an old brown jacket that's been stored for years.
The leather is feeling very weathered. I'm wondering what I should rub into it to renew it and make it more supple.

Here's a photo:

I recently got this:

And I was going to use it but I have noticed on the website that it states do not use on aniline leather (burnished, warwick and rum).

Would this jacket be aniline?

Thanks,

  • Just use a paperclip

  • I used Dubbin (Natrual colour) and a hair dryer for years with my motorcycle leathers… Heat the jacket, and rub in the dubbin
always nice and soft, but it can take a bit to get fully covered and to have no film on the outside.

    • Would Dubbin be a good fit for something that really needs some conditioning? I always thought Dubbin was more for waterproofing.

But I don't know all that much about leather products .

  • You'll have to check the label, but aniline isn't typically used for jackets. I have an old Schott Perfecto in similar brown and periodically use leather honey when it starts to look crispy

  • Go onto the woollies and/or coles web and search for "oakwood" and buy some of the leather furniture restorer (it's a bigger tube and costs less then the leather restorer) as it's ingredients look the same as the leather jacket restorer and costs allot less and IT WORKS. I had a jacket that was not as bad.
