Would this work on my switch?

    • +1

      Yep!

    • Use this exact SD for my switch. No issues whatsoever. Did format to FAT32 because I saw some reports of NTFS sometimes getting corrupt

      • +1

Ok, awesome! Thanks for letting me know!

        • +5

No worries. Also just double checked, it's exFAT that sometimes corrupts, I don't think NTFS works on Switch. Recommend to format to FAT32 before you start using (any SD card) on Switch

    • Got it from the last sale and put it in my Switch. It works well and I don't need to worry about storage now.

  • Beware: I saw this deal too but reviews say they are fakes or dodgy.

The 512gb ones are around $85. Suggest you pay a bit more for a genuine oneā€¦

    • +4

Reviews of fakes come from dodgy third-party sellers. Buying from Amazon or a trusted name stores and you'll be fine

      • Amazon mixes stock, shipped and sold by Amazon items can actually be an item stocked by DodgySeller96

    • +3

Yeah just noticed. There are some reviews stating it's a fake, and others saying genuine. In any case I always recommend people to run H2testw for any flash memory they buy online. If it is a fake just show the H2testw results to Amazon, Amazon has very good support.

    • Just buy from Amazon directly, not 3rd party and you'll be fine.

    Awesome find OP
btw i found 512gb micro ultra for $86 sold by Sunwood AU thou not Amazon.
if anyone interested of spending 20ish dollar for more memory.

    • That's a really good deal. I'll probably buy that next week for my partner's tablet - I'm introducing her to the wonderful world of emulation!

  • +1

Dang, missed it, shows up as $75 for me

  • +1

The 400 is sold by Amazon, the 512 is sold by Memoski…. for returns and guarantee of genuine article etc, the former is obviously a lot more preferable.

  • +1

Happy to be corrected, but the Ultra range cards are not really suitable for 4K video recording in dashcams, cameras, etc.

    • +2

Definitely go for the endurance models for those purposes mate.

These will work, but they won't last.

      • endurance models

SanDisk Extreme or Samsung Endurance should do the job, right?

        • +1

For dash cams i.e. continuously writing you'd be after the "SanDisk High Endurance" or "Samsung PRO Endurance"

  • Not going to buy, but I just wanted to chime in and say how crazy it is that they can fit that much storage on an itty bitty card like that. Blows my mind!

    • People forget this kinda stuff. Technology still blows my mind.

IKR. First PC compatible I used was a MS DOS 3 or MS DOS 6. It's HDD was mere megabytes, and it had a floppy disc drive, it used 1.5MB floppies. My first USB drive was a 8GB Lexar USB 2.0 thumb drive in roughly 2010? Or prior. That USB drive was soooooo slow, I remember going to the library to download stuff, and just how show the transfer rate was :(…..

I really do love retro stuff!!!! I've been looking out for a DOS compatible PC, and I'm hoping to have one before uni resumes!

      • +1

Yeah, I love it too, though I feel super spoiled by modern tech. Everytime I go to boot up an old Amiga game I forget just how long load times used to be.

    • +1

similarly, my first usb flash drive bought in 2004 was only 32mb. i thought that was a minor miracle back in the day compared to having to split zip files across multiple 1.44mb floppies lol

having to split zip files across multiple 1.44mb floppies lol

As a kid I used to look forward to Saturday swap meets, where I would buy the latest edition of Duke Nukem in 8 floppy drives, and the joy of unzipping them one by one until the game finally loads.

There would be odd occasions where one of the 1.44MB floppy drives had corrupt data. LOL!

I remember getting a game for my birthday (think it was King's Quest IV) and the last disk mist have been corrupted, but I didn't realise till maybe a year or so later because the game was so hard and it took me that long to get to the later part of the game (think it turned night time or something). Boy that was annoying.

            @Hurg:

            Boy that was annoying.

I would probably stress about it all week until someone would be kind enough to copy the game for me again. I think I even went as far as placing the floppy drive in the fridge hoping it would magically work again.

          PTSD-inducing stuff, that.
