First time posting. Was looking for a Smart Bulb because I'm too lazy to get up and turn off the light. Found this deal and thought that I should share it with my fellow lazy OzBargainers. Bonus points for anyone with a Hue Hub.

RRP is apparently $34.95

  • Thanks.
What's the max brightness of this one?

  • Why bonus for anyone with a Hue Hub? This says Bluetooth.

    • Its in the Amazon title "Philips Hue Philips B22 Hue White LED Smart Bulb, Bluetooth & Zigbee Compatible"

    • +2

It just unlocks more features like Automate lights with schedules and Smart control home and away. This means that you can make it so that it turns on when you get back home by having the App and allowing it to know your GPS.

      • Does it work with smart phone only without Hue Hub?

        • You download the App and connect it using Bluetooth.

        • You'll need the bridge as far as I'm aware. It controls my Hue lights and whenever I reset my router all lights and voice service (google/alexa) chucks a tantie because no bridge

    • Click the link and scroll down slightly, and it shows a comparison between the two. Biggest advantages between bluettoh and hub, is hub works with apple homekit, allows for up to 50 lights(instead of 10), allows for automation and works with all of the accerories instead of only the dimmer switch.

  • RE: convenience as mentioned by OP, it could be flawed if you have physical wall switches.

Will work great for floor lamps tho.

    • Whether it is a lamp or physical wall switch, you wanna leave mains power always on and control the lights either with app via Bluetooth or via Phillips Hue switch (requires Hue hub).

Just a warning, this appears to be the simple white version, not the ambiance.

That means you can’t change the “colour” From warm white to cool white. It is dimmable ie the brightness can be adjusted but not the hue

    • yeah I find these good for lamps, but not for your main light/s. The ambiance ones better for that.

  • Grab the bulbs and a motion sensor and set it to turn on the lights when you come in the room at night. works great, can vary brightness to work as a nightlight too

  • These paired with a motion sensor are great. I have my home office set up in the garage and the switch is at the opposite end of the entrance. So whenever I walk in the lights go on. and As I walk out I say Siri turn office lights off. Works great.
EDIT: Correction, mine are not the Bluetooth ones.

  • Same price at Bunnings, saw it last week. I think that's what they are matching.

Wish the motion sensors would go on sale - bought them cheap 3 black fridays ago and they never went back down to that price afterwards :( seems like the one hue product that rarely goes on sale

  • I no longer have wifi at home as my mobile data is plenty enough to get me by and I just set hotspot when I need to use tablet or Chrome (I use an old phone as remote because unfortunately phone can't both be hotspot and joined to it)
I'm not exactly sure how but I'm waiting for a way to have some kind of proximity/phone control lights (adjustable cool to warm) that doesn't involve having to pair with each light every time? Fingers crossed there's enough cheapskates like me to make the business case lol
I currently use led globes that switch from cool to warm each switch which is kinda annoying but serves its purpose. Bit alarming if you wake up at 3am and its on cool white but I've got pretty good at preflicking so it's ready for my next anticipated requirements. Why can't they read my mind already so sick of having to both make decisions and then let the technology know what I want. I knew beyond 2000 was lying to me all those years ago ;P
