[Simply Energy] Check Your DDs - Discount Not Applied

Just thought I would give a heads up to any Simply Energy customers with a CC direct debit setup.

Normally I get charged for the previous bill around the 1st of the month, this one happened to be due on the 3rd. Saw a much higher than normal charge on my CC so checked my bill and they charged me the 'didn't pay on time' price because their systems had a long weekend and charged my card a day later than it should have.

I called them and got a credit for the difference despite them believing that I was somehow to blame for their DD system not charging me on time / insufficient credit / being on a grandfathered plan. None of which are applicable.

Anyways, it pays to check you're not getting ripped.

  • If you're in Victoria and still with simply energy for the POT discount then it's time to move to someone else. Much better deals out there without the POT bulltish.

      Yeah I'm looking at the energy compare website now. I figured I was on a good deal with 45% RACV discount but ReAmped looks to be much cheaper without any discount.

        also any downsides with going to a lesser known electricity retailer like ReAmped?

        • Pay On Time. I think customer service for billing errors would be the only thing that's a real concern. Then it would be how good their app is for seeing usage etc.

    I was on the 26% NRMA Saver plan, which was rather disengenous when the website was offering the same discount to new NRMA plans but starting on a lower tariff… was not happy
