Razer Australia Invoice Legitimacy (No ABN, No GST)

Hey guys, any of you bought a razer laptop before and know what their invoice is supposed to look like? I’ve got an invoice sent to me by a seller on market place and the invoice is triggering all sorts of red flags.

A copy of the invoice can be viewed below (no personal details of the seller):

So this “tax invoice” that was supposed to be given to an Australian shopper:
1. Doesn’t have an ABN on it
2. Doesn’t have GST in it
3. Doesn’t even say to whom the invoice is addressed to
4. Has an USA address and company name

Is this a legit Razer invoice??? How are they able to sell products in Australia without ABN and GST on their goods? And if this is purchased through Razer USA, why on earth does it have “AUD” on the amount, and it’s $10 in shipping?

I’m so confused. What do you guys think?

I can't understand how Invoice day (Dec 2nd) is before Order Date (Dec 19th)? Too many red flags. Walk away.

    • Yeah lol I don’t get that either. Maybe it’s invoiced on a certain date but the stock was only allocated two weeks later? I don’t know man. Would someone go through all this trouble forging this on a PDF editor though…

Term Invoice day is technically wrong too. It should be Invoice Date.

Order is placed and then Invoice is generated. So order date can’t come after invoice date.

        • Agreed, also weird not keeping consistent with the capitalisation.

          • @Unorthodox: Yeah wth is up with that. What you guys are saying makes complete sense too. This invoice is all sorts out of whack.

    • Might be the crappy image quality, but the Order Date wording seems to be slightly bigger than the Invoice ‘day’

Would someone go through all this trouble forging this on a PDF editor though

      Yes.

      • Pretty shit job if you can’t be bothered to do an ABN look up or factor in the GST. Maybe it was copied from an American invoice template online

I think this is issued in USA not in AU (I think we don't have sales tax as in USA, only got GST isn't it ?). You have bought something from an overseas seller, which is RAZER USA LTD.

There's a few red flags there.
    1. You said you bought from "market place". If you mean Facebook Marketplace, I doubt that Razer is running their business through there. They have their own website instead.
    2. The price offered is much lower than the price at Razer's official website. That configuration seems to be $5,899.00 at the official store - much higher than the $3299 in your image.
    3. The various weird aspects of the dates, fonts etc of the invoice others above have noted.
If you haven't paid yet, I would not go ahead with the purchase. If you have already paid, I would try to cancel and if that fails, dispute the charge on the card you used.

All good I definitely didn’t go through with the deal. It’s a private second hand seller. The ad says it comes with receipt so I asked for it to see if it’s Australian stock (consumer law warranty), and if the serial matches up with the machine etc.

That invoice blew me away with red flags lol. It was almost comical how many conventions it breaks in terms being a proper invoice for goods purchased in Australia.

And yet I’m like… the photos in the post look very legit… description isn’t too bad too. Why does he even try offer a receipt when he can probably sell it without. I don’t know if this guy got scammed hard or he’s trying to scam others. Is this like a dummy brick demo model people are trying to pass as an actual computer or something.

Thought it’s quite interesting and wanted to share with you all.

      • Pleased to hear you hadn't gone ahead with it. I'd misunderstood the situation. I thought you were trying to buy a brand new laptop, and that the image you linked to was the tax invoice for your purchase, so my first red flag doesn't apply, but I think the other two are still dealbreakers.

      • um consumer law doesnt cover second hand goods

  • The invoice doesn't seem to add up either.

If you are keen check Razer online chat. They are brutal with grey and unauthorised resellers.

  • This is against the law. Every invoice should have an ABN. Should report it to ACCC and also Fair Trading.

Should report it to ACCC and also Fair Trading

Private sale (Facebook Marketplace) of a (potentially) used product. OP just asked the seller for their invoice so they could potentially get continued warranty on it, but the invoice they got looks dodgy as.

  • 100% fake.
