FREE delivery: 20 - 24 Jan at least put in the dates …. if these were fulfilled by amazon would be much quicker.

Totally agree, plus its only "acceptable sensitivity" according to TGA and over priced.

  • +7

Appears to be "acceptable sensitivity" from the TGA

RAT tests seem a bit of a scam …..if it tests negative you might be negative or positive …..if it tests positive you need to get PCR test done …..anyway / make sure …… So you might be positive based on RAT testing negative and go about your way spreading herd immunity……. Was just in shop and not sure still need to check in ….won't be there 4 hours so I can't be a close contact ……so why do still need to check into shops ????

      • +3

PCR testing won't be a thing soon… US CDC has withdrawn PCR testing authorised to detect covid because no one wants to be nose banged when there are other options. Australia will follow because the US says jump and we say how high.

        • I thought they are withdrawing covid-only PCR, in favour of newer testing that can do flu and or covid in the same test?

As rediculous as some of the combinations of policies have been, there are a couple of points from your post that I think warrant correction.
        1) For many/most situations (depending on location and exact circumstances) the policy is now that we don't need to confirm the result of a positive RAT with a PCR. We just assume it's correct.

        2) Even though the definition of a close contact has become overly restrictive and nonsensical, the check ins can still alert you that you were a casual contact and to be extra attentive to any relevant symptoms you may develop.

What do you do when RAT’s are only 60% effective. Ignore it?

Scammo doesn’t seem to care. Numbers don’t count for case numbers, hospitalisation or those in ICU. The only thing that matters is keeping potentially infectious individuals working and LNP seat numbers.

How is this a deal? Around the going price maybe slightly more expensive, only "acceptable sensitivity" by the TGA and delivery not for another 2 weeks. Nope, downvoted.

    • For people not living in the city Amazon free delivery might sweeten it as a deal vs drive 1 drive to chemist who then has no stock ……

    • +2

The Xbox and PS5 selling at RRP is a deal why not this?

      • -1

        They aren't

      • i think these RAT test deals will be more a panic public service than deal, focused, like who had hand sanitizer at rrp vs profiteering …..with the govt putting the max 20% margin on RATS and people with concession cards get them free at the chemist, and if you feel ill you will get them for free at testing sites ….. only people paying for a RAT is if you are feeling OK and just want to test and don’t want or get a free one from test station ( travel distance) or aren’t concession card holder ………
like hand sanitizer, demand will drop off as people get omicron, don’t get ill, don’t feel ill and so never get tested and just go about their daily lives and spread it like in europe, govt isn’t doing contact tracing of positives anymore ….it’s ring your friends and tell them to get tested ……if work wants to test, work supplies the test, to make sure it’s an “approved reliability” ….. would you trust employees to buy their own tests and do them daily, weekly or would you supply them , ask employee to bring it in and after looking at it bin it , or test on site ? …… for my employer it’s tax deductible … for me probably not like i can’t claim train fare or work clothes (work in office so don’t wear PPE).

You can still go out if you have a common cold, not so if you have Covid.

      • -2

        Yes u can same symptoms

        • As far as I know if you have Covid you isolate, so no you cannot

          • -3

@ky1975: Not tru now covid positive nurses are working due to shortages

            • +2

@Dex38313: Maybe because there's a lot of seriously sick people from the "cold that you can self-diagnose"? You're either a troll or you're ignorant, either way you should probably have your commenting privileges taken away.

              • -2

@iMagoo: Agreed spreading Covid misinformation is dangerous, they are banned from Twister and FB.

    • how can you diganose cold and domicron ?

      • -3

        Domicron not real cold is

        • Domicron not real cold is

So what is it ? how do you diagnose domicron ?

          • -3

            @HolyCr4p: You don’t it’s a cold

            • @Dex38313: i am confused as your previous message said "Domicron not real cold is" and now you retract your word by saying "it's a cold"

So Omicron is cold or not ? Back to my question how do you know you get cold or Omicron ?

  • +1

suboptimal sensitivity and average price and delivery time.

    • free at testing stations when stock arrive if you feel ill, you would only buy if testing station is too far away, or you feel ok and need one for travel ……

testing workload problem was people testing for travel at PCR test stations when people didn’t feel ill , i was close contact and if you had SMS (week before christmas) you got tested and results in 24hrs (vic) if they didn’t have sms and wanted for travel it would take longer i was informed by tester ….. they were triaging result priorities when i got tested ….

  • +1

Imo only the most accurate rats should be listed. No one wants to have a false sense of security with a sub optimal accuracy rat (especially if price is average at best too)

  • Dont buy these acceptable sensitive ones. They are useless from my experience. Few of my family members, friends get all cleared only to test positive in PCR TEST few days later.

  • +1

Lol damn these are the ones I managed to find. Probably should've read this first: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S120197122…

TLDR: "The overall sensitivity of the rapid antigen test was 65.3% (95% confidence interval [CI] 56.8–73.1), the specificity was 99.9% (95% CI 99.5–100.0). In asymptomatic individuals, the sensitivity was 44.0% (95% CI 24.4–65.1)."

  • How do we know the legitimacy of a website, I found this on Facebook.

    https://rapidtestsaustralia.com/product/all-test-covid-19-an…

    • Does it have an ABN?

  • Two-plus weeks delivery time, crap quality, exxy. Good call, real bargain.

  • Cancelled my order after the comments here about the efficacy of these tests.

    • if you have concession card tests are free at chemist …..if you feel i’ll RAT is free at testing station so you don’t need to wait for result …..my coles sells kits behind service counter and has limits per person if you don’t want a free RAT at a testing station ……. very few people will be buying these in a few weeks except if you feel OK and need it for travel…..if you feel ill they are free …..if have concession card you get them for free and hey resell and buy beer or cigarettes ……

if you can afford a holiday, you can afford to pay for a test, if you are ill you will not need to pay …… i can’t see a scenario where i will need to pay for one unless i’m taking a holiday.

      • "… i can’t see a scenario where i will need to pay for one unless i’m taking a holiday."

        Going to work perhaps?

        • might depend if employee or contractor ….. people might say “i can’t find RAT , do you want me to come into work ?” if you are a nurse or teacher.. if you work in old folks homes, etc they would supply to get work force in …… or people might say “i tested negative” when they didn’t test at all …. with workcover you need to provide a safe work environment ….. feel sorry for contractors ….if you are food delivery person daily test is $50 per week ?
