Help with Buying a New TV - Budget $1700

Hi, I am a complete noob when it comes to TVs and would like some advice on purchasing a replacement TV as I would like something bigger as I have trouble with my eyesight. I'm thinking 65" +

I currently have a Sony Bravia KD-49X8000D. My TV sits next to a window and my current TV has no issues with viewing angles. I am a very basic TV user so I mainly watch Movies and lots of basketball. Any help is appreciated. My budget is around $1500-$1700 unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Thanks :)

whatever you do, dont get TCL…so slow & buggy!!

    • Thanks, good to know!

    • I have to agree on this also. My TCL TV is annoying slow.

Buy a 1080p screen from FB marketplace or Gumtree

I doubt your eyesight needs 4K, and you don't need it smart

    • I would rather have something with a warranty and of good quality. I'm not blind it's just hard to read text sometimes if I don't squint. I can still tell when things look crap or are low quality. What I'm really interested in is having a TV that can handle motion/movement for basketball.

  • This time last year I was able to snag a Samsung Q80T 55" for $1770 from Appliances Online. Pretty high up in their lineup, perfect size for our lounge room, relatively future-proof with the HDMI 2.1 120hz.

I'd recommend a similar deal if it came up again.

  • I would stick with Sony. Had good experiences with Sony in the past never had an issue.
