Aldi in their next Saturday specials (15 Jan ) have a ALDI 5.1 Channel Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and speakers for sale for $399 plus delivery. Does this represent good value for money or are the better options for under $500.00?

RMS 20 watts is allot. Most people never get above 5 watts at home.
If it was PMPO then it would be 100 or 200 watts and 3/400 sub woofer.

Yes you are correct in that it said online only. The tv brand I have is the 65 inch Baun from Aldi
A match made in heaven. Though not the most powerful unit it will be an improvement on the tv speakers. It's decent value but not a bargain.

only + about aldi is that they are generally pretty good with returns if you are not happy.
Looks like kogan has 5.1 soundbar + woofers for $399.
But as other comments suggest, I think you get what you pay for?
ALDI have 60 day money back, so you can try them and if you do not like them return them as no one has given any valid reasons why they are not good so far.
I strongly recommend this Logitech Z906 System. 500W system I have 2 of them 1 upstairs, 1 Downstairs. Never Had any problem. Optical Audio output but I would've liked HDMI output
