Any Wheel Cleaner Recommendations and Alternative

I am currently using Bowden's Own Wheely Clean https://www.bowdensown.com.au/new-wheely-clean, it is working fine but I am looking for the car enthusiast who have used other products and could recommend me other products for wheel cleaning.

Looking for non-acidic, pH neutral and spray and hose type of products. Came across Autoglym, Mothers and Meguiars and loking for recommendation from others who might have used it and how do they feel about the product.

Thanks.

Key ones are
1. Bowden's Own Wheely Clean
2. AUTOGLYM CLEAN WHEELS, AUTOGLYM MAGMA (this can be used to remove iron deposits on paintwork as well)
3. Mothers
4. Meguiars D143 Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner
5. Nextzett ColourTec Wheel Cleaner
6. MIRCH GRIME OFF - HEAVY DUTY, ACID FREE - WHEEL CLEANER, MIRCH BLACK SERIES - DRAGON BLOOD - REACTIVE WHEEL CLEANER
7. Add more soon

  • I am thinking of this from Mirch, anyone have used it?

  • I'm yet to use it but Meguiar's Non-Acid Wheel & Tyre Cleaner reviews very well IIRC. I current use the old version of Bowdens Own Wheely Clean. Not sure why you want to change if it's working for you?

    • Thanks Apsilon, I want to try something equally good or better and thinking to move away from Bowden's. I think they are getting expensive and hoping that alternate like Birch which has good reviews may be the one and hence looking for some input from the forum members here.

I haven't really noticed any change to Bowdens pricing but then I typically only ever buy at 20%+ off sales and/or bulk packs. I've seen some reviews of Mirch products and they seem OK but the fact you can only buy online puts me off products these days. It means you can't quickly grab something if you suddenly run out and of course need to add in shipping cost. I'd certainly try some of their products if I could buy them in store.

Bowden's Wheely Clean is expensive if you pay RRP for it, but I never do. I usually wait for a really good special to happen and buy heaps. Repco had the 500ml bottles a few weeks ago for $13, or wait for a 30-40% off sale and buy the 5ltr bottle.

I also bought a 5ltr bottle of Trade Direct Mag Wheel Cleaner from Supercheap for $15.99 and for rims that don't have baked on brake dust it works fine. It does say it contains <10% Oxalic Acid, however I've been using it for over a year and can't see any issues from using it.

And if you are a true Ozbargainer then you would have been down to Aldi last week and picked up some Power Force Wheel Cleaner 750ml (Acid Free) for $4.99 I got a bottle to try but the rain isn't helping.

    • Thanks, Let us know how you go with the ALDI's product.

I tried that power force wheel cleaner from Aldi, it's an absolute joke. the only way dirt is coming off those wheels after you have used it is if you wipe it off with a rag.

followed the instructions down to a T , its a waste of time and money even for $5.

    • Thanks JollyHotdog, I will stay away from ALDI :-)
