Really depends on where you live. It's easier to motivate yourself to go to the gym when you don't have to go out of your way to get there.

YMCA gyms are usually the cheapest of the gyms in Melbourne.

They have a promotion on with the Vic government that gives you free membership until mid May, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64557

  • how much you guys usually pay for gym (3 moths)?

  • If you are anywhere near Forest Hill, South Yarra or Southland, then FitnFast may be for you:

I have yet to join these guys, so not sure how good they are. But roughly $10 a week, with no contract. If you're only looking for a gym for 3 months, you'd be paying through the nose for such a short period of time. Also this is more of a focus on 30 minute sessions (spin class, group class) although they do have a weights area if you want to spend longer

I used to go to YMCA, so can vouch for the comment above - they are cheap and great value, but I've since moved suburbs so it's not close enough for me to continue going to YMCA.

  • As a different option (as you left your question vague) you may want to look into a dancing class - There have been a few deals on this lately.

  • i went to asked fitness that nearest to me, they said for new member 3 moths = 240. any thoughts on this?

    • $80/month seems expensive. What gym was that?

      Where are you located?

      • Broadmeadows, Mel

walk to my parents place which is about 15 kms from your house.

give them $10 and walk back.

do this 3 or 4 times a week and your fitness will improve.

  • any one?

  • Are you looking for bootcamp style or gym?

    • just normal fitness will do me :)

  • its kind of hard to answer.
    YMCA gyms are cheaper.

You could do some bootcamp style training in the parks. they usually charge $10-15 per session.
You could buy some free weights and work out yourself.
Look for a park that has some exercise machines?

Generally, gyms are not that cheap. unless you manage to score some coupons type things at a gym of your choosing.
