Interstate Upright Piano Moving Company Recommendations (Brisbane to Sydney)?

Any recommendations for a moving company to move an upright piano from Brisbane to Sydney (lifts - no stairs)?

Otherwise will just use cheapest quote from google…

    Check out Vanessa Carlton

    • Yeah Brisbane to Sydney is well under 1000 miles so she should be up for it

  • just throw it in the boot.

    • Roofrack is safer…

  • No reccomendation, but how much is the piano worth a lot of people attach sentimental value to old Upright piano's thinking they are an antique and worth something.

Sadly this is not the case, old piano's also don't move well
and the change in climate from Brisbane to Sydney will have a big impact on the piano.

    • Yep this. Moving it is expensive and can be dangerous to the piano. Only worth doing either if its a real top quality one or if its got big sentimental value. Otherwise you usually do better selling it and buying another once you've moved.

    • 11k bought it last year

  • i'd offload it on gumtree or marketplace and get another one, unless it's a steinway

  • If you care that much about it make sure it is covered by insurance during the move.
We moved our grand piano from HK to Melbourne, cost about $2.5k off memory, arrived undamaged luckily.
We considered selling it, however worked out almost same cost and had sentimental value to my partner.

  • Seriously consider getting a second hand one at destination. We had a piano for a while, didn’t use it and ended up not even being able to give it away. There seems to be a regular supply of free pianos on gumtree etc.

    • Only bought last year for 11k and no where to put it so might as well move it.. also harder to find (silent piano)
