These Shiraz were born from a shared passion for the wines and vineyards of South Australia. The ancient soils and moderate climate create rich and full-bodied wines that are incredibly satisfying. These two newly released wines deliver a lifted and aromatic nose that displays bright red-berried fruit, plums and sweet spice with a hint of savoury oak. The palate is generous and expansive with ripe dark berry and cassis flavours framed by soft tannins.

South Australia is a big olace, which region(s) are they from?

  • To be fair, this winery has pretty good review for its higher-end stuff. They have vineyards in both the Barossa and McLaren Vale. Like many wineries, they probably source fruit from elsewhere in SA. Where there's a blend of regions they are more than entitled to state the geographical indicator as 'South East Australia".

The winemaker has a very solid CV, including a long stint with Penfolds.

This winery previously had strong Asian exports, but as we know, that market has dried up.

I haven't tried the wines, but I'd be much more comfortable speculating on these instead of some of the no-name stuff that's flooding the market.

I'm from SA and bought a dozen of the Jaressa estate wines. They are basically "export quality" with Chinese labelling. Body is good, but really high sulfur content/ smell. Need to let em breath for a long time..then pour into your slow cooked lamb shanks. Good body for cooking, but too much sulfur for drinking.

The term "South East Australia" is mostly used for exports & a few sub $5 wines of dubious parentage. I think we're entitles to ask what region is it from, since pretty much every $5+ wine in Australia does. The grape, region & year all are strong indicators of a wine. Surely the op.ca answer what region it's from. Unless it's just goon-bag quality sloops from unknown parentage.

No that's turned out to be incorrect. Direct to China has dried up. Indirect to China and the rest of asia hasn't, as has been born out in the sales figures.

As they say in the super ads, past performance isn't indicative of present and future performance.

    $20 shipping to Sydney…

    • $20 flat shipping fee per order, not per case to Sydney metro.

The point still stands that $20 delivery heavily affects how good of a deal this is. At least to me.

  • Just to clarify - just commenting on Jarressa

    • Thanks, this means a lot.
These wines are overrun orders with fair quality and budget prices produced by the same winemaking people in JE.
