Gamesir X2 Bluetooth Controller - Short Review

Hey All,

So I got a Gamesir X2 (Bluetooth) for Christmas and have been playing around with it a lot lately, just thought I'd share my experience with you guys if you're on the fence about buying one, especially with how big cloud/mobile gaming is becoming.

Ergonomics - 7.5/10
The controller does feel quite comfortable in the hands, but it is a bit on the smaller side. You definitely feel the difference coming from a full sized controller, but this one still feels nice. The back is contoured a bit as well and has rubber grips so it feels nice to hold.

Buttons - 8.5/10
The buttons are good, face buttons feel responsive to press and it's got a not-bad D-Pad. My only gripe are the shoulder buttons. They're responsive as well for sure, but honestly a bit too loud/clicky for my liking. It's fine in normal gameplay, but especially at night time if the missus is already asleep, then they're quite loud. Also there are no analogue triggers. Not a big deal for myself but others may have an issue with this.

Control sticks - 8/10
Control sticks are also pretty good. Deadzones are probably a touch too big, but otherwise feels good. The controller comes with little grips to put on the control sticks to make the top of it larger/easier to use. Very strongly recommend using these as without them, the sticks feel way too small

Latency - 8/10
Obviously being bluetooth there will be a bit of latency. This is a Bluetooth 5.0 controller though so honestly the latency does very feel minimal unless you're really looking for it. With Game Pass (via cloud) I didn't feel it at all, nor with ps4 remote play, but with the PSP emulator I did feel it a very tiny amount, but nothing too game breaking at all. And then again, also using Dolphin emulator for gamecube games, I didn't feel any latency at all. Seems to be a bit hit or miss depending on the app. I think for Bluetooth it does a great job.

Battery Life - 8.5/10
Pretty good battery life, I'd estimate maybe 15 hours-ish which is good. No where near as good as a switch pro controller for example, but you won't need to be charging this thing too often.

Overall - 8/10
Overall impressions is that this is a great bluetooth controller for mobile gaming. It also has an app so you can map buttons to on-screen touch controls for games that don't support Bluetooth controllers on Android (ie Genshin Impact). Pretty happy with this thing, haven't used a Razer Kishi before so not sure how it compares (though one bonus of the Gamesir is supporting larger phones, and also phones with cases), but if you're looking for a good, comfortable bluetooth controller for your phone, this one will fare very well. Especially vs a controller with a phone clip, I've found this much more comfrotable as the the weight is central, rather than on the top of the controller. Also makes playing retro handheld games feel more authentic due to the controller's design. I've been playing Crisis Core lately on my phone and it makes me feel like I'm using a beefed up PSP!
My only wish for the next version (if there ever is one) is for quieter triggers/shoulder buttons.

Any other questions feel free to ask, happy to answer :)

  • Value? For 100 could of got a controler

    • I've seen it go to $75 on Banggood, currently $85ish on Geekbuying (and looks like you get a 5% off coupon for signing up if you haven't bought from there before).

It's good value at that price imo, wouldn't spend the $120+ that local sellers are selling it for.

I also find it more comfortable for mobile gaming vs a controller with a phone clip due to the weight distribution.

  • Did you buy this for Egg NS ?
And what did you think of it ?

    • I actually haven't tried the emulator, I have a Poco X3 NFC and it struggles with Wii games, so I assumed no chance running a switch game! Can't comment on it sorry.
