AirPods Max - At What Price Would You Consider Buying?

AirPods max have been out for ~1 year now. They were announced with an eyewatering retail price of $899, but we've seen deals for between $600-$700 in the past year.

I'm curious as to which price people most people would be willing to pay for these premium headphones?

    $1 seems good

Apple need to pay me $200 to wear their bra

  • I just night them on Amazon for $699 (Boxing Day) and really like them for work and focus time. Sure other products are cheaper, but the integration is seamless and for me they sound great (they did not test anything else).

  • I'd pay whatever they cost, just can't afford them yet. I'd even buy the pink ones if they were cheaper. I worry also if I buy them now that the AirPods Max 2 would come out the next day. I wish there was a way to get the Atmos working with Xbox tho.

Anything cheaper than say 30% off RRP is going to be impossible to buy from retail.
So they're still too-expensive for me at $600 price point. Any lower and you're literally talking Used Market.

With that said, it's hard to gloss over the Sony XM4 and the Bose QC45, when they're RRP at $500.
But they typically sell between $250-$350 instead.
…so the more apt question is, would I say the AirPod Max is x3 better than say the Sony XM4's?

    • Good points. There are some rumors that AirPods Max 2 will come out this year - it’ll be interesting to see what deals can be found on the originals if this happens.

        None.
Apple pays money to their retailers, and buys back their merchandise. It's how they can control their prices. It's less risk for the vendors. Not to mention, Apple has the budget to be able to do stuff like that. Would be great if other companies participated in those practices.

AirPod Max (v2) will probably replace the original, at the same price. The only discounts will be in the Used Market, which again is not a fair comparison against something like a Brand New headset from Sony or Bose.

  • Can these work well for Xbox S/X (don't mind if I have to use a cable)? The main thing I want to know is will the Mic work well? I looking for one pair that are good all around and I don't mind paying more than sony or bose for that. Plus I really like the feature where you switch between apple devices without needing to pair.

  • These are really good even at RRP you basically getting product which delivers what something twice the cost can't do.

  • 500 max if i had a use for them, i prefer galaxy buds or airpods pro and at home i like my Sennheiser HD6xx's

  • Same price as the XM4s or the QC45s; around the $400-500 mark.
