Telstra welcome credit ($10 monthly)

Hi guys,

Just wanna ask how "easy" it is to get the welcome credit with Telstra. I've just signed up with Jb Hi-fi for a 12 month plan and the guy in store showed me that the $10 credit option is disabled for him, so he couldn't apply it for me.

I tried to contact Telstra support via chat and the guy said he needed a written note/reference before he can apply the credit for me…

Some of the guys here made it seem so easy.

But Telstra seems to love to piss off random customers, especially the ones who have been loyal to them…

    1. Telstra give 0 f's about upsetting anyone whether its loyal or not loyal customers.

    2. Keep disconnecting/reconnecting until you get someone who will cave to your request. Can take up to 10 times according to reports. I got mine 2nd time.

    • to point one, i'm a loyal customer, i rang up the other day to get my $20 discount back on my internet, they did that and also said to wait on hold, he came back and discounted other services of mine without me asking to the total of $65, I thanked him and was surprised that they did it unprompted,

      • I've been a Telstra customer for nearly 15 years now, and they've straight up stooged me at every turn from being a-holes to deal with with tech support (argued with them for 2 hours last Christmas as they said because i wasnt using their modem/router that's why our NBN wasn't working - when they finally sent a tech out, the guy confirmed it was indeed the NBN black box that was borked), to promising a credit of $25, but then only applying $10 credit for another tech issue. Had a case number etc and they said they would not honor it.

        Idk YMMV tho I guess but consistency is not a key feature I find with C/S staff.

        • Telstra customer for 13 years here. Was on a basic cheap monthly recharge. Then $1.99 per DAY was being deducted. Chat services say I had subscribed to something and that I would need to unsubscribe, but they couldn't tell me what I had actually subscribed to and would not stop the payments coming out either. After chatting with 17 different people, over the course of a week, I gave up. I am no longer with Telstra.

    Remember to be polite to those who refuse, it is not your right to get a $10 welcome credit.

  • Luck is the only aspect… My 2nd try was so smooth, no hassles at all, $10 credit just got applied for 12 months, without many questions asked…

  • Last time many got $15 credit.

  • Got 2 services in December and one a few days ago using the GC promotions with TGG, in all 3 services I received a $10/month off credit on my first time trying it.
