…from the world-renowned "Huangli Trading Co Ltd (AU)"

Good find, but for the sake of $35 I would stick with JB or Amazon. These appear to be grey imports so no warranty support from EE.

    Same price at JBHifi.

I thought it was a door bell (intercom)..

  • I really want a 360 cam just for a bit of fun on my scooter but the prices I've seen for anything half decent just aren't feasible. Is this the kind of product I should realistically use as my baseline?

    • Unfortunately yes. The best thing about these are that they have really great integration with the software and phones. They are very user friendly. Your best bet would be to get a second hand insta360 one X which is still very good to this day.

  • This or go pro 10? I need it for my trip to Cairns, wondering how to mount it to the snorkel glasses…

    • +1

Although it is waterproof blah blah.
The 360 stiching isn't great on it's own underwater, it greats a bubble within a video, if you wanted to zoom out using an invisible stick.

Also can't attribute it just to this but mine died after 2 months of use, snorkled a few times with it, and various dry applications also. But had it replaced and can say I love it.

I got it to replace a Hero7 Black that died also due to snorkling and I would say applications are completely different.

5.7k isnt high resolution at all, its merely 1080p if that when you letterbox out a 16:9 cut, so resolution if mountedon or goggles would be night and day compared to a Hero 10.

That being said for other applications, the about to turnwhere you're looking in post production or reframing as I've gotten wrong so many times with GoPro for top of helmet mount whilst GoKarting, is something I absolutely love about 360.

      • There are underwater cases for this also, I've been meaning to order one but haven't as yet.

        • if it dies because of water going in the device, can we take it back to amazon or JB to get it replaced?

          • @easoweno: I'm unsure of this, but mine actually worked after snorkling, it died during mountain biking just mounted on handlebars, so I wasn't sure of the extent of the issue, but because it was quite new, I think JB possibly filed it under DOA period or something.
But I'm unsure as to if the issue of mine was water related.

Also my device could still turn on, but would shut down after 15 seconds.

Unlike my GoPro which died on the day of snorkling.

            • @abnormalitie: thanks, very helpful tips. I read it's waterproof up to 10m so it would mean we don't need a case for it? I am very lazy with editing but this may be a game changer.

            • @abnormalitie: also how do you find the battery life? How long can you get out of it for one battery during the trip? Should I buy an extra battery?

              • @easoweno: Yes, it means its waterproof without a case, you should also rinse in freshwater when you come out of saltwater as I beleive that could be what damaged the seals in my GoPro.

The battery life is absolutely amazing! Coming from a GoPro Hero7 where I had many spare batteries I will say this is many folds better I dont recall the exact time, but it's well well over an hour at 5.7k 360 video.
That being said I bought an extra battery when I ordered it, and I furthermore ordered 2 on amazon with a 3 port charging dock for the price of less than one genuine battery, however they dont click in as nicely so I wouldn't dare try those underwater.

  • Score amazon employee 10% discount! Nice!

    for those who arent though:

    • Would they be eligible for official warranty?

      • no idea, thought this was an aussie store, but who knows these days with web stores…

        • I would rather trust amazon tbh. Especially that I am sort of relocating to europe.

          • @Yomamassugardaddy: 100% amazon is all about customer service, it really is a major thing they push in training and day to day operations.

    • hmm, i have wanted one of these, but also wanted a 3d camera for the oculus, think i might wait for the 3d cameras.

Hmmm how to get the 10% without working for Amazon.

      • Join amazon? They are a pretty good company to work for…

  • This might be a comaprison between apples and burgers, but I am going to europe for 5 months (for work) and want to rely on something other than my phone for my weekend trips.
I am tossed between this or a DJI mavic mini 2, they dohn't seem to be far in pricing…
I know they are two different products, but they sort of serve the same purpose for someone who's after hikes/trips/catching susnets etc

    Any Ozbargain user recomendations?

To my experience, owning a DJI Spark since it launch many years ago, and having GoPros and now this, I found that I have used this a lot.

Drone, I have to pilot and actively record what I'm doing, or be the pilot and record what someone else is doing.

GoPro/Action Cam, I feel like I can weave it into recording activities and it just sits there and I edit the videos afterwards. The insta360 I feel like takes this a step further, as I don't spend time framing it, for example last night I went to badminton, I clampped it to the pole on the side of the net and didn't even check, and just reframed everything in post.

      I hope that makes sense.

Note that there are local restrictions/laws for drones whereas cams not so much.

And it when you travel, everywhere you go that seems like a nice please to launch, there is also a no drones sign. LOL

One of my holidays, I had a album of me holding my drone infront of no drone signs.

        • THank you all for your replies!! very helpful.
Also I should be able to claim back 10% gst on my way out of australia with this :)

  • For those tossing up betweent his and a normal GoPro like a Hero 9/10, which for me which is what I was going through when my Hero 7 died.

I found that I upload more of my videos to Instagram and then Facebook, but seldom YouTube, so having the ability to do a different camera angle/perspective was more interesting then having the resolution. Which is why I opted for the 360 cam, and I've been pretty happy with it.

My exact view (pun intended 😉). Mount it on my ride and not worry about which view to point at till editing time .
