Portable Aircon That Does Not Need a Window Kit

Split system aircon broke down.

Can someone recommend a portable unit that does not need a window kit.

It is a temporary solution for a bedroom. Thanks

So… you want it to exhaust the hot air back into the room?

No, OP wants to create and destroy energy and disobey physics.

  • 41.7… You don't need to close the border with weather like that.

You can use a portable air cond without a window kit, so long as you have somewhere to exhaust all the hot air…. but exhausting it back into your room (or even a different part of your home) would be an incredibly bad idea since all that hot air is going to be recycled into the air cond.

An air conditioner is a heat pump, all it does is move heat from one place to another. (typically from indoors to outdoors).

  • Plumb it into the ceiling 👍

  • I have also been looking for a portable Air con with out a hose. However they don't make them with out venting so you would have go for a evaporative cooler instead.

  • This post is full of Hot Air.

    • Only because you are in a room with no doors or windows to let the hot air out. Watch it the CO2 levels are rising…

Get a bag of ice and a fan.

  • Is this what you are after?

Disclosure: I didn't read what I linked, just heard about it before

    • And then….

But after about 30 minutes in closed rooms, we started to get odd readings. It was heating the room. Heat removal – FAIL

      • Haha yeah I never said they were any good!

        • I was hoping it moved the flaps at the top like a fly so that it would at least be amusing, but it does not.

  • A fan or evaporative cooling.

  • A cheap evaporative air cooler would do what the OP wants. If an evaporative system will work where the OP is. They don't work in climates where the humidity is already high, because that's how they work, by evaporating water into the air.
