    My personal experience: I opened it and had few drinks. The next day had a very bad reaction. And needed the whole day to get over it. I can't say this is original because I had few of these in the past without any issue.

      I think they call that a hangover.

      • No, I had a bottle before of course shared with a friend. But, I only had a double and I had to throw up blood next day. Anyway it's my experience and you do whatever you want.

          I was joking but sorry for your experience.

          I'd think that if it was fake, the smell and taste would've been considerably different to your previous bottles. Was it?

          • @Feelsbad: No worries mate. I had that doubt. The next day, I actually raised a concern with Amazon and they gave full refund and asked to dispose the bottle. After reading the reviews I became aware of fellow citizens facing similar issue.

            • @An0nymous: Once you get into this price range you need to be careful who you buy from. Best case fakes just pour in a cheap whisky, worst case they put anything in to make colour and product appear right regardless of health consequences.

                @gromit: But it's sold directly by amazon not via marketplace. Surely they should be ensuring it is authentic?

                • +2

                  @Chocobros: Yeah, I am dubious.

                  Coming from Amazon, they would only have a strict channel of import directions, and the only possible reason a fake whisky would be in there is on the supply/warehousing side. There have been cases of fake items like boardgames from Amazon, but I'd be highly surprised if fake whisky was coming in to them.

                  Fake whisky could come about from customer returns, but do they take back food/liquor?

                  And also this is only the 18yo. Not a very presigious or sought after whisky. Not worth copying.

                  @Chocobros: from Amazon directly "should" be fine, from Amazon sellers I would be very cautious.

                  • @gromit: To be honest I never even contemplated fake whisky as a thing but thanks to your comment have started reading about it. Fingers crossed they send the bottle I ordered and that it is genuine!

                    • @Chocobros: yeah it is a lot more common than most people realise, They fake far cheaper drinks than Whisky too in a lot of the less regulated countries, most dangerous can be some of the ones you would normally only use as mixers in cocktails as they will mix with anything from methanol to anti freeze. Not such a huge problem here though.

              • @gromit: once you get into this price range, if you can't smell & taste the fakes, what's the point to pay the prices anyway.

                  @Jamesx: You would be shocked to see how many people can't tell or buy something like this and still use it with Cola. My wife for one :-( , nearly cried when I saw my 30 year old tomatin on the kitchen counter next to a can of coke.

              @An0nymous: one person (praveen) who had issue (headache)

              the dozen or so of other complaints were about piss poor Amazon packing - anyone who has bought cans of soup and corn chips in same order will know what this means

                @HeXa: ^ what HeXa said.

                I'd like to see these other reviews of people bleeding after ingestion… that is a very serious symptom.

          @usrname Are you the reviewer praveen on amazon? Did you buy it through amazon or amazon marketplace?

          • @Chocobros: Nope I am not praveen

            • @An0nymous: Ah OK so that's 2 bad reviews then. Do you remember if you bought it direct through amazon?

          I can confirm this was delivered yesterday and feels genuine. Well packaged, all sealed properly, nose was incredible, taste very smooth. I will enjoy this bargain thank you OZB

          • @mahd-mahn: Thanks for updating us. I got mine too and the box/bottle etc looks genuine. Taste and nose is phenomenonal however I too noticed getting a headache whilst drinking it and I only had approximately 2 serves (don't have this problem with any other whiskies including glenmo 10).

            Could be anything else and not related to the whisky so will post back if it keeps happening each time I drink it. But in general happy with the buy so thanks op/ozb

              @Chocobros: @Chocobros I have not noticed a headache yet and have had a few, but never two in one night! Although last night I did include this in a rotation of 6 whiskys and no headache either :)

              • @mahd-mahn: Yup I had it on 2 other occasions and nil headache. Its good stuff and thanks OP for posting :D

                • @Chocobros: Unless you are highly sensitive to sulphur or other common trace elements and esters found in whisky, this GM18 would be absolutely no different in after effect. Any unique reaction would be purely coincidental.

      if you had another try with the same bottle, you'd tell whether this bottle or something else. Maybe even Covid, who knows?
