Vodafone TV ‘Lost’ Firmware?

Hey all,

So seems my Dad’s VTV has been rebooting over and over again after just showing the Vodafone logo at the beginning, apparently has been that way for a few weeks but he never mentioned it to me till I was down seeing them.

So I managed to get it into the recovery menu, but seems that the OS has either completely been wiped, or a hardware error that it can no longer access the firmware. Tried all the options I can find in the recovery menu and everything basically just comes up with ‘file not found’ and from searching on the net there doesn’t seem to be any firmware file I can reload onto it to see if that fixes it.

Some screenshots to show what I’m seeing:

Anyone had a similar issue and been able to resolve it? Have another 4 VTV’s between family and friends and none have had this issue. If can’t fix it will probably end up grabbing a Google TV instead as was keen on the Firestick but seems it doesn’t show the icons for sideloaded apps like Kayo which is a no go as need it as simple and easy to use for the folks.

  • Big VFTV thread on whirlpool. Better to give whirpool a try.

I have moved on from VFTV as it's no longer supported or sold and the last update disabled NTFS support…..

    • Have been in that thread before, I’d gone through it before posting here and the thread really does seem dead nowadays.

Think from what has been said, there’s no chance of getting it to work again.

      • Then your up the creek without a boat as you lost the oars before you posted the question. As that thread is THE info thread for VFTV.

    Sounds like it's toast.

    Just build and flash LineageOS.

    • OP has no chance of building from source using cross compiler.

Ive got a vodafonetv in the cupboard
And will gladly copy out my firmware to help out.
Just tell me what to do.

      Ctrl C
      Ctrl V
      Send

    • I’ve got a spare one I have as well, but sadly doesn’t seem to be any way to get the firmware file at all. Doubtful even Vodafone would send it at all.

Does seem that the thing is randomly just cooked.

      • Is it possible to plug your spare and sniff the firmware check/update link?
