Custom Kitchen Renovation Brisbane

What's happening forum?

We have recently bought a place in Brisbane and want / need to replace the existing kitchen.

Our place is currently tenanted until the end of April so we would like to start the reno in early May.

We were thinking about getting a cheap Ikea flat pack kitchen but my inner Ozbargainer could not resist the biggest bargain of my life on Friday when a mate called me to tell me that The Good Guys Lutwyche were virtually giving away appliances for free…

I literally jumped in the car and drove there to pick up an oven, cooktop and range hood.

Only issue is that everything is 900mm which means Ikea is out.

I got those 3 appliances for the cost of GST…

Now that I've saved about $7500 in appliances, I'm thinking of going custom kitchen but I am new in Brisbane and would love to know if anyone could recommend some cabinet makers, design companies.

for info, here's what we got.

for $800

Can't vouch for them, but always driving past this place in Salisbury and keep meaning to check it out. Also keen to do a budget-friendly, mostly DIY kitchen upgrade.

    • Thanks mate, I keep driving past Kitchen by Katie on Lutwyche road.
Pretty sure they're not budget friendly though!!

  • Wait appliances for free ?

    • no I paid $800 for the lot

      • Wow nice

      • What kind of deal were they having??

        • They were getting rid of their display units.

Just a few ovens / cooktops / hood on a palet.

There might still be a few left actually.

I’m in Brisbane and when selling out place we looked in to having professional spray painting over the purple laminex. It was going to cost a fortune, so we were recommended a new kitchen instead. A place called Dream Doors did it and was only $1k more than painting the existing kitchen. That was to replace all the wall hung cabinets new, keep the existing base cabinets but replace their doors and put a new reconstituted stone bench top on. Was incredibly affordable and the property sold for $50k more than we expected because the buyer was happy it had a ‘new’ kitchen.
