  • Good speaker for low to medium volume - turn off the Xtra bass though otherwise it's just mud.

Not happy going loud - for that you'll need a Megaboom.

    • I have the xb40 and agree it's better with Xtra bass off but I think it is great at high volume.
Keeps the kids busy with the silly lights and when you tap it it makes drum noises.

  • I bought a Mini HiFi system for my mother for Christmas but it didn't work and we had to take it back. I'm thinking speakers like this or Edifier and just buying a separate cd player or similar to plug into them. What would you suggest (discman/some kind of amp) and how would they be plugged in? Wanna do this fairly on the cheap with the speakers being the main cost if that's possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

Too many possible options and too hard to explain in writing. If you don't know how/what to connect together for it to work,

then have a read first to be able to understand better, or just get an all in one. In short audio 3.5mm ( like a small headphone jack,

as well as rca are the cheapest and simplest ways to connect as cables are cheap and readily available.

      • Thanks for the site. I will read it. As mentioned below "We have a portable cd player with headphone (AUX jack). Just wondering if we could hook that up to Edifier speakers or get something smaller like a hub/amp that's reasonably neat and small and could hook up to Edifier speakers. The all in ones micro hifi's tend to be a bit expensive for what you get ie 20w Panasonic $145. Would prefer to get better speakers and then use something else as a hub for CDs."

        • for example for into edifier speakers should work with this yeah?

        • If you already have a working cd player that has a 3.5mm headphone jack, then the simplest set up to get

is powered monitors that have a 3.5mm auxilary input and as an option also blutooth if you want to spend a bit more to

futureproo your mums speaker system for the times someone turns up with a song on a phone/tablet and does not have a

headphone jack/adaptor, around $50+- more. You sound set on getting powered speakers such as Edifer,

but that should work well. Maybe something like these….

Does your mother need the portable speaker or the CD player or both. There are plenty of powered systems that receive Bluetooth

  • I have this and paid $300 for it.
    Great buy and Nice sound.
I'd take Sony over JBL any day.

  • Seems to be out of stock everywhere

  • 3 speaker in stock at blacktown target NSW
got 1 and very happy with purchase.
