Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - Not Booting

The phone got stuck on the startup logo screen yesterday. I've tried a few resets (volume down +power button) and was still stuck on the logo screen.
Today I tried the reset again and the phone now doesn't look like it's turning on (just a black screen).

Any help appreciated.

Is it worth sending it to repair shop or just let it RIP ?

I would have the power plugged in and try booting in safe mode:

  • Time for a new phone. You have had good mileage from the S7.

I've tried a few resets (volume down +power button)

Have you tried the volume up + power?

It will wipe your data though.

Power the S7 completely off. Ensure that all notification lights are off before you try the next step.
Press and hold “Volume Up“, then press and release “Power“. If you did everything correctly, the Samsung Galaxy logo will appears, and it will say “Recovery Booting” in the upper-left corner of the screen.
Use the “Volume Down” button to toggle the selection to “wipe data/factory reset“, then press the “Power” button to make that selection.
Use the “Volume Down” button to toggle the selection to “Yes — delete all user data“, then press the “Power” button.
The factory reset process will begin. It can take a few minutes. Once it’s finished, select the reboot system now option, and your device will restart in its factory reset state.

    • Try faff around it for a bit more maybe even drain the battery and recharge? Bring it to a Sammy store and see if you can get it fixed for a decent price if not she served you well and it's time to find a new phone. (I think I saw a couple of Samsung deals recently if that still tickles your fancy).

I'd trade it in or bin it.

    • I changed form Samsung to Oppo and haven't looked back. At least the battery on the Oppo lasts all day

  • that thing belongs in a museum

  • I've tried a few resets (volume down +power button)

Can you get to Download Mode by holding home, power and volume down?

  • Or the battery is past is best before date. Is the back of phone swelling?

  • Mine has just done the same too! I managed to recover it last week but it crashed again. It's proper dead now.

  • Update: The blue charging light is not blinking anymore. It won't power up. The last of the smoke has left the phone. It was a great phone. It shall be missed.

  • Just out of interest, how long have you had it for ?
(I have a S8 and want to estimate how long it'll be before it dies)

I can't remember - but I got it when it was released, so probably 2016.
