Hyundai Specialist in Sydney Inner West?

Hi,

Can someone please suggest an excellent non dealer Hyundai mechanic in the Sydney inner west, or if they are super good value anywhere in Sydney.

Just got quoted $250 from a dealer for basic oil change. I don't have a location or tools to do myself. (Also, Google searched and got dealers and normal mechanics, with good SEO, who appear to 'specialise' in every car make.)

Prefer to pay ~$150 if possible for oil change.

Thanks for your help.

Edit, oil and filter, plus need to ask some specific questions about car hence need Hyundai specialist and not generic mechanic.

  • Just oil change? What about filter?

I used to get my Hyundai serviced for 80 bucks in Melbourne that included oil change and filter change. Add a quote in autoguru or similar sites. Mechanics will call and discuss

Thanks for this, later I will try autoguru, and maybe airtasker

  • my previous santa fe, was serviced and maintained at my local NRMA Motor serve,

they are upfront and transparent with cost that can be quoted over the phone.

the downside, is they will tell you everything that is wrong with your car.

The upside is you can say “thanks for that, just note it and I’ll look into it when I have time. Just the service today though.”

      • some people just don't like hearing the truth…

thats a downside? I'd rather know that shit is broken/worn/faulty… then get a second opinion to make sure the manure wasnt being spread…

      YMMV

You don't need a Hyundai specialist for this.

An oil change on a Hyundai couldn't be any easier. Other than waiting for the oil to drain it is literally a 5 minute job.

you can do it anywhere. you dont need a specialist to change oil…
i do mine at the dealer because i want to keep my warranty

    • +3

To maintain warranty you DO NOT need to use the stealer. Just any card carrying mechanic.

another hoop to jump through if you want to argue your warranty. not all dealers are nice and easy

        • +1

          No. No hoop. It's legislated.

We are just at the 4 years 10 months mark with our Tucson. Had the AC, 4 x wheels and driver's seat fixed under warranty. Never been near a stealership since purchase.

The warranty is with the manufacturer, not the stealer.

  • just wondering - why isn't there insurance available for mechanical issues on a car?

    • +1

There is. It's called a warranty on a new car and extended warranty on an older car. Extended warranties can be very expensive and involve a lot of exclusions and conditions.

      How rich are you?

  • Don't need a specialist for a Hyundai…

  • OP - what specific questions?
