3rd party Modem/router/wifi/hotspot to use optus sim card

Hi, I have been using Optus portable wifi/hotspot in my house and share data with my phone. There are 2 problem with it now.

Firstly, I moved to a double story house and the tiny portable wifi cannot cover the entire house any more.

Additionally, with more and more smart devices in my house, the Optus portable wifi can only allow up to 16 device to connected. It is a huge pain.

Can people recommend a reasonable price wifi/router/modem which I can insert my Optus sim card in and cover a bigger area? I don't want to use a wifi extender.

TIA

  • Option 1 - Try your local classifieds (eg. Gumtree) for an Optus B818 modem (around the $150 mark, supports up to 64 devices)

    Option 2 - Try a TP-LINK MR6400 (Supports up to 32 devices)

Option 3 - Sign up to a new Optus Home 4G Plan for 24 months, and get a modem for free (availability dependant on your residential address, and modem will likely have to remain fixed at the residence (no roaming) in order to adhere to the T's & C's)
