Just want to say what an awesome bloody game this is!! <3

    • +1 loads of fun. Storyline is what makes it an amazing game.

    • Do I need to play 1st part to really enjoy 2nd?

      • +1

I got my answers lol play 2 first then 1

Just started playing this again. I kind of rushed through it when I first played it. This time I'm taking my time and can't believe the detail in this game. $29 is a steal. Especially if you have a Xbox One X or Series X console. It looks amazing at 4k.

    • +1

How long did your rush through game go for? I heard it's at least a 30 hour game.

      • 110hrs in, only just finished the main story line. Still plenty more to do.

A second (and slower) playthrough is a certain.

        • Played it on release, for about 150 hours. Just started it again last week, loving replaying it just as much.

      • +1

Probably around 30 hours. It's not the right way to play it though. It's better if you just sink onto it and play around.

Pity there's no 60fps on the Series X, nor would they be doing a free upgrade you would imagine, being Rockstar. Just find it so tough to play things at 30fps anymore!

    • I never thought I'd do this but I'm trading in my copy of RDR2 @ebgames tomorrow to put towards Forbidden West. I was hanging onto it in case Rockstar release a PS5 upgrade, but who am I kidding, that shit ain't happening.

Anyway, I'll gladly pay full price for a PS5 version of RDR2 if the time comes, it's such a brilliant game.

      • +1

I was thinking about getting the PC version, rather than waiting for Rockstar to release an upgrade. Need to wait and see what Rockstar intends to do. I fear Rockstar will try to milk customers twice.

The console versions have minor glitches and while I really enjoyed playing RDR2, certain achievements are real pain. Also, if you have Series X or PS5, you can no longer have Arthur reaching New Austin with glitches anymore.

    Nice horse riding simulator

    • No fast travel?

      • Not when I played

  • +1

Still an amazing game years on. 100hrs+ of single player content without 100%'ing it too. Online, well, #SaveRedDeadOnline

  • Freaking amazing game but I would get the PC version. Insanely slow initial load times on the PS.

I consider this among best games I've ever played. Take it slow.

  • Need a PS5 to run/play this properly on console. :'(

EDIT: Is there any DLC associated with this game?

    • No you don't…

  • Can't go wrong at this price. Great game to pick up.

  • I own this on Xbox One X and I couldn't get into it for some reason. I have a Gigabyte laptop with an RTX2070. Will the graphics be better on my laptop? I have a basic 32" 120hz 4K monitor that I connect my laptop to, but I doubt I can run it at 4k at any kind of playable FPS.

So.. should I buy it on PC and give it another go?

    • You need to figure out why you couldn't get into it previously. Chapter 2 is a bit long, and chapter 5 is … well, I am not a fan of chapter 5.

PC version, you might be able to get some mods. RTX2070 (laptop) would be better than One X, but I don't think you can get 4K /120 with that for RDR2 PC version.

RDR2 is a great game, but it isn't exactly fun to play (part of the problem is that it is trying to be real, but honestly, life in that particular time period isn't actually enjoyable). The fast travel is limited (you cannot fast travel straight back to the camp), the controls (other than the dead eye) aren't that great, and the story really picks up in the latter half of the game.

      • +1

I couldn't get into it previously because I think I was quite time poor at that point. I also have a short attention span and I am easily woah a fly just landed on my thumb as I was typing this

        • The game does have a bit of pacing issue. If the issue is time, then some of these might help.

          • Get the official guide and stay on the main quests. Or, just look at the charts on each chapter first to see whether you want to sink / spend the time playing the game.
          • It's possible to exploit the gold bar glitch, but that requires XBox One X/PS4 and disc version (initial version, do not upgrade).
          • Not sure with PC version, whether you can get other people's save games. That might help. Go straight to chapter 4 and 6.

Honestly, I doubt you will have the time, especially with so many games on GamePass now. When RDR2 was first released, there weren't many new games released at that time period (coz. unwise to compete against it) and GamePass didn't have that many titles.

          • @netsurfer: Thanks netsurfer, really appreciate your detailed responses. I think I'm gonna buy it for PC when it's on sale.

Is it better to play with a controller or keyboard and mouse?

    • When i had a 2070 Max-Q laptop, i used to run at it at 1080p with most settings in High (using GeForce Experience but moving the custom slider towards the right)…

I believe it looks much better now cause last year they released a DLSS patch and everything is much smoother. Also, on a 32 4k monitor its better to run it at 1080p instead of 2K anyway so you will likely get all the effects turned on…

      • What fps were you getting at 1080p on high settings?

        • So I used to set resolution to 1080p then click the Optimize button on GE but then move the slider 2-3 dots to right of the optimal recommendation…

I used to get 50-60 fps but that was back then without DLSS on 2070 Max-Q

I am now using 3070 100W and tested both before DLSS and after DLSS patch there is a huge difference in quality for the fps that I aim for!

          • @meong: Great, now just need to wait for it to be cheap again. Spewing I didn't jump on the Epic Games deal

  • Can I play this on PS5?

  • Boah

  • This is a stupid question but If I own a Series S is there any point buying discs. I will probably get a Series X or maybe even a cheap Xbox One this year.

  • PS4 price now down to $24 https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B079J83PQ9
