Do these get dirty build up at the top of the handle?

    • No they are quite easy to clean. The knives are very good quality

  • +13

    How sharp are the spoons?

    • +2

Goes through ice-cream like you wouldn't believe!

  • +1

Is it true that even the spoons can kill?

    • +6

      yep. Junkies use spoons.

    • There is no spoon

    • Depends on where you shove it.

  • +9

Hol' up. The best part of this set is the knives, which are regularly $6.
    24 piece set = Max $144.

    Surely…

    • +1

Agreed, I think I got 5 forks for 40 bucks or so, if you got the knives on special you really wouldn't spend close to 200.

    • Pay the man, on point

All about the legendary knives, the rest is thrown in as a job lot

Waiting till Peter's of Kensington monster the price on these

    • +1 Buy the knives when on sale for $6 each and go to Ikea / Big W / Kmart etc to pick up your forks and spoons.

      • Big W and Kmart? Mr Big spender here. Just get down to your local OP shop and get it for 10-20 cents a piece.

        • ^ this guy with local OP shops, ooh la la

  • +4

Seems a bit overpriced rather than a bargain.

    • True, we are only after the iconic knives, the rest is stocking filler

  • +4

ugly AF…those handles, surely not as durable

    • My parents got one of these dinner sets when I was a kid 25+ years ago and we still have them now. The handles are still just as good after daily dishwasher use. The serrations on the knives have worn away but everything else is great.

      • +3

Still doesn’t answer the uggo factor

        • Maybe they look more beautiful the longer you have them 😬

  • Gift you say….

  • +3

I love their knives, but can't say that's a nice looking set.

  • +3

Plastic Handles on spoones and forks,Never look elegant.
    Overpriced IMO

  • +2

    Pity they look terrible!

  • This could be good quality, but it doesn't claim a particular grade of stainless so that makes it suss.

Plus it looks like a baby's first dinner setting and doesn't contain table knives.

  • +3

I have those $6 knives. They are light and doesn't feel premium. With more than $200, you can easily find a set of premium maxwell williams cutlery set which is a lot better.

    • I have two if those knives, use them daily for my lunch at work. Still sharp af after about a decade. Never rusted nor faded.
Certainly not what I would choose for my home dinner set though. I'm in no way "classy", totally with you on buying nice cutlery for cheaper. I don't want to feel like I'm camping at Christmas lunch.

  • Forks and spoons are about $10.00 each if bought separately

Why would you get this over something say like
Stanley Rogers Manchester 50-Piece Cutlery Set 8.5x37.5x33.5 Centimeters Silver https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B077P9472R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g…

You could ditch their crappy steak knives and still be ahead 4 place settings and buy 10 victorinox steak knives?

  • Thanks OP. These are fantastic. We got a set when we got married 22 years ago. Several pieces have been lost, but they are still my favorite cutlery pieces. The knives are so versatile, from buttering to cutting steak, they perform outstandingly.

I don't mind the knives in black (and other colours!), I like the colours when cutlery is out.
But for fork and spoons the black looks weird.

  • Was looking at these to make a set of camp cutlery, but could be overkill…
