i never had no date to no school dance

So you did have a date to a school dance?

      • They did, it was a triple negative :)

        • Lol! Either that or they did have a date but it wasn't to a school dance.

If you loved RA / RA2… this version hurts.

    • it certainly was a let down dont play Command and Conquer Tiberium Twilight that was diarrhoea

    • agreed, purchased it back in the day when there were no refund policies.
      Very disappointing

I think they went full stupid on in RA3. It was a step too far.

    • Still playing RA2 via CNCNET to this day, it's still awesome fun online and custom maps are wild

This one has always been a hard basket, when RA2 came out it copped so much blacklash for being "goofy" "cartoony" and "funny" and how "real" red alert fans wanted a gritty serious alternate history title.

RA2 is now looked upon as the height of the red alert cnc games.

RA3 came out and people bagged it for being campy and ridiculous.

I recently found that if you own a physical copy, your serial for it gets you a copy on origin and replayed it, as much as I didn't like some of the choices in it, going back and looking at it now, all of the actors in it apart from Gina were having a good time and having a ton of fun in their roles.

It's some of Tim Curry and George Takei's best work they are hilarious in it, and JK simmons is awesome as always.

The game play is very rock paper scissors but it's still a bit of fun.

I remember at the time people were saying to the fans who wanted a serious RA to go and play World in Conflict, which was great in it's own right but that was a real time tactical not really a RTS.

But we can all agree, Twilight was a bullet to the head of a franchise and attempts to make moba's and mobile ports have been like testicle zapping a corpse.

God what i'd give for EA to just let the franchise go and let petroglpyh have it and continue the series.

    Wish they remastered RA2 already

    • +2

Wish they didn't ctrl+shift+del CNC Zero Hour 2!

      • Yeah…love RA2 and Generals

Isn't this also part of the Ultimate Collection that goes on sale regularly?

    E.g. https://www.cdkeys.com/command-and-conquer-the-ultimate-edit…
    For $10.49

    • Depends if you want to deal with Origin or not.

Underrated game in my opinion, yes it takes on a bit of a new atmosphere and isn't as good as RA2 but it's a fast and satisfying RTS, fun story in the spirit of Red Alert, nice graphics.

Be aware though that the online multiplayer no longer works. Might have been Gamespy, I forget. Tried for hours to play a match with a friend and nothing succeeded.

RA2..those were the days, network gaming in college

    • +1

What is this network gaming you speak off? We are not playing games.

We are stress testing the network.

      • I’ll bet you were one of those people who turned up the graphics quality on a 10 base 2 network to lag everyone out.

  • +1

I didn't like the skirmish that much, especially compared to RA2, but the campaign is pretty fun. Should get $7.50 worth out of it. I agree that they went away from some of the things that made RA2 work so well, but at least they kept trying to introduce new things into their games.

Agree that a remaster of RA2 is desperately required. Anyone who hasn't had a crack at Mental Omega should have a look, it's RA2 on drugs.
